A Conversation for Baldur's Gate - the Computer Game Series

I frankly believe that they haven't come out with anything yet that even approaches the greatness of the BG series. Neverwinter Nights came close, though.
I'd like to note right now that you can get unofficial fixes for both Baldur's Gate games and their expansions at www.baldurdash.org. Kevin Dorner has posted so many fixes at that site that it's mind-boggling. With those fixes you truly have the best game on the planet
In fact, the only thing I really dislike about Baldur's Gate is that 3D-accelerated mode on Shadows of Amn isn't compatible with either Windows XP or my top-of-the-line ATI graphics card. It's good enough without the accelerations, though.

I loved the PS2 version, It was good for me (as a mediocre player) to be able to join in a two player game in a supportive role, rather that against the other player.
When's the next one?

I love the graphics - and love the fact that they work on my ancient PC with my ancient unidentifiable graphics card and limited hard drive space - but I do have a hard time deciding on with NPC's to pick up!
I tried having the bard from Beregost (I've forgotten his name but he's the one trying to hire you for Silke) in my gang - and I've never laughed as much as I did then! He was a coward, admittedly - but he'd sing all the way about what a coward he was while running away from the action!

The PS2 version (Dark Alliance) wasn't, as far as I know, in any way involved with the BG series discussed in this entry, except setting.

Interesting that the article makes no mention of R.A. Salvatore and his endless trilogies of novels about the Forgotten Realms. I've read a lot of them and think I would like to play BG online, just to see how Drizzt Do'Urden figures in the software parallel of the books.
I believe Salvatore is at least part-owner of the software franchise.

Sorry, not play BG online, but play BG as a software game. Mind wandering.

ra salvatore really has very little to do with the games as such. drizzt features only as a cameo...

Not for long unfortunately, since in BG2 What's-His-Bucket will come and take them from you. Ease of Use fixes this though.
