I thought I'd find it easier with A level chemistry and a slew of popular science books under my belt.

Well, I'm an interested (modified) layman. That is, I am a physicist by trade but interested in chemistry as a layman. I found the article readable, but by no means light reading.

I think we all agree that the article isn't for the layman. Like A729885, this article has a paragraph at the beginning explaining that prior knowledge is needed. Both A729885 and this article are, nevertheless, valuable additions to the EG. smiley - smiley
