The sigh of relief that was heard across the world

Turned in the written portion of my general exam at 3am this morning, 5 hours before it was due. Could have worked on it longer, but I was afraid that:
a) I would reach the point of changing things that shouldn't be changed, in my sleep deprived delirium, or
b) I would fall asleep, and miss the deadline
I also kept reminding myself that this is essentially a pass/fail endeavor. Admittedly, the bar for passing can be relatively high, but still -- it means that there's not much point spending time stressing over minor points (like grammar ) that would not be make or break issues.
And, I also kept reminding myself that the worst thing that could happen was having to do it all over. Yes, that would really, truly suck -- not only in terms of time, but also in terms of self-respect. But, it would not be an insurmountable barrier.

Congratulations!
I took a slight nap during my SATs (much to my horror!) and didn't do nearly as poorly as you might expect.
And I never re-took them for fear I would have done worse with all my faculties about me.

Really good news Mickey .. glad to here it.
Now if someone could motivate me to do work it would be great.. (all afternoon I was thinking how I'd love to come home and work, - I came home and slept for two hours, hooted for two, and now it's late)

I know it is far from the same importance but I recently took the postal exam 3.5 hours long for a really good position at the post office.
In my case it only took 1.5 hours. It was so easy that I finished 2 hours early. With my sanity intact. Not going postal but maybe employed!!!! It takes three weeks for these things to be scanned by some machine back in DC.
If I do get this gig I will maintainnign the same machines I installed back in 2000. They really do work well.
I hope both our tests turn out the way we want them.

Best of luck, Mikey! Yeah, with tests like that they can tell pretty quickly whether you know what you're talking about. I think you'll do fine.

Congratulations, Mikey. I'm sure you will score very well, I know how exceedingly intelligent you are, how long and hard you've worked and studied, and how well you communicate yourself. I'll be thinking of you, wishing you the best possible results.
