Okay, I'm not permanantly leaving h2g2. But I'm definitely going to be cutting back. Lil's Atelier was the first to go, sadly, because it's one of the few forums that will live on without me.
Once in a while when I find a moment, I've been able to read what's happened at the Atelier since my last posting, and find that there is some confusion as to my reasons behind leaving.
First of all, I'm not leaving because I fear that the BBC would hold copyright over my ideas. I understand the laws about copyright notices to know just what's going on here, and that's never deterred me from contributing to the Guide before.
Second, people seem to think that I'm worried about h2g2 eating up all of my free time. Bah! I've got enough free time, even if I took up another forum or two.
Also, some seem to think that I think that the guide is stifling my creativity. No, h2g2 doesn't do that. H2G2 is actually helping to bring out my creativity in certain ways that I don't know if I could've easily reached before.
My need to leave h2g2 does not stem from my amount of creativity, my desire for free time, or for many of the other thoughts mentioned previously. As I stated previously, I have a limited creative urge. An urge to create, an urge to write, an urge to explore the depths of my own deep dark thoughts, into realms nothing like the Twilight Zone ever bothered to represent, or into the heights of such areas that C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, or any of the other Inklings ever bothered to put into words, although I doubt that they went without this kind of imaginings.
I have an urge to write, and to explore my own mind with my writing. Without that urge, I don't ever feel like writing. H2g2 fulfils that urge. Why? Because I'm writing. I'M DOING IT RIGHT NOW, FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD!!!!! This writing on the Internet takes away from my writing urge while offline. *THAT* is why I'm going to be giving up h2g2 for a short while.
Now, I am pleased to say that, in the very, very short time since I started to gradually cut down from h2g2, I've already finished one story, and started work on editing and rewriting another. Maybe this really *is* working.
So long, farewell, auf weidersen (sp?), and goodnight.

Naw, I'm sure it is just a coincidence and you should come back to h2g2 full time. Just kidding. If it is helping, then do what you must do.

Oh, I'm too addicted to h2g2 to stay off permanantly. I'll merely be cutting back my time.

*Brings Lil a cup of tea.*
It's okay. He'll be back. And besides, he's still posting to the Atelier almost as much as he used to, but don't let on

Actually, before I was posting to the Atelier about twice a day. Now I usually only post once every other day. Of course, ever since I decided to make the Atelier an adventure forum, that might change a bit.

Oh, I see. Well, I can usually only post there once per day and that is after reading alot of backlog. It seemed that you were still popping up almost as frequently in the backlog. Perhaps those were slower days for other posters, so your frequency was artificially high. Anyway, I'm happy you're still there at whatever frequency.

As much as I like the Atelier though, I'm hoping that you won't need to get used to it.
