Is there an expression for that ? In German, we'd say 'der Hahn im Korb', which means as much as 'cock of the walk'- or so my dictionary says.

We have that expression, though I don't think it quite applies as I know it. Usually implies a measure of arrogance.

I just happen to love all ladies of good heart and nature.

Here, it only means a single man amidst several ladies - and he's usually envied by other men

We have an expression.........'the cat that got the cream' ........in Nick's case I think that might be quite appropriate

I'm a simple man who is also quite aware that sometimes, you get far more than you bargained for.
