so i am leaving here
i mean its not so much a decision as just what is happening
there just isnt much of what i enjoy here anymore
and i think the italics should just pack hootoo up for a while
all nice and safe
and put it on a shelf
and not delete ANYthing
just shelve it
until people are ready for it again
ready to do it like it was intended to be done
whimsically and irreverently
and none of this... quasi competivetiveness... with wikipedia... arghh thats insane!
you just canNOT compare apples and oranges
wikipedia is the Galactic Encyclopedia to hootoo's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
and when hootoo gets started up again
there will be none of this @$##&*@ abominable rudeness in peer review
and none of this @$##&*@ despicable rudeness in our threads
i mean...
cmon...
really...
thats just so immature and irrelevant!
and anyways
nobody is who they say they are anyway...
nobody is who they say they are anyway...

ok - I used your link ( re the Apology thread ) and found this. So I suppose it was a sort of invitation to join you? If not, then I'm sorry for intruding.
I am interested in what you mean by 'no one is who they say they are anyway'
I think I portray myself quite realistically?
nobody is who they say they are anyway...

says you...
but seriously... sure there are folks here who are real...
but they meet each other in real life and that is their check and balance
for those of us who cant do that
and for just about the entire internet
you never really know who you are talking to
or if their story is true...
i was just commenting on that...
and also on how i think h2g2 is just running on vapors right now
and needs to be safe-guarded ...perhaps by being put on hold
until people are ready for it again
as far as an invitation to join me
sure
but
since the day i started here i was under the impression that everything i wrote was visible...
because i was under the impression that everyone had access to that link

No - that link is really hard to access, unless you are given it. I had seen it before, more like an ACE tool - I suppose it is used by the moderators as well.
I absolutely agree that there are people here who may not be what they seem. In fact I had to say to one person that I no longer wanted to have any conversations with him. I felt very uneasy.
A lot of the people who I now chat to here, I have their 'real' identity as well.
I'd like to continue this discussion with you Kerfluffle if that's ok with you? It's just that I have something in real lfe that I need to do now. I'll be back online later.

no - that link was really easy to access a year or two ago
and was and is used by almost all longer term researchers
its really how you stay abreast of what is really going on here in hootoo
but you seem pretty experienced
and probably know that
nobody is who they say they are anyway...

I have to say that using that old link seems a bit like 'snooping' to me. It is not a link that is given to researchers via any of the help pages currently in use.
Using it and joining into people's journal conversations without being invited is a bit like walking into someone's living room unasked.

you are really just toooo much!!
i dunna even know where to start on this one...
first of all a little bit of humility... you only got here 11 months ago right?
or wrong?
i kinda think youre one of those people on here who have a number of names and a long history...
i mean... how do you know its an "old link"?!
>>> joining into people's journal conversations without being invited <<<
um
fascinating
you really are stretching the boundaries of polite elitism (if there is such a thing) (as polite) (elitism)
seriously tho... all kidding aside... are you trying to tell me that no one is allowed to comment in anothers journal unless they have been invited??!!
where is this written?
and what are you doing in my journal?
and look at all the postings in 2legs journal ...were they all invited?
serially....
i am curious
nobody is who they say they are anyway...

No- firstly you are wrong - I have only this one account here, and it is the only account I have. I don't have the skills, time nor inclination to be anything other than I appear.
secondly, *you* sent the link to the recent postings, and you said yourself it was an old link. - and that is how I found this journal entry of yours. I said it seemed like an invitation - in posting #3. Please read back and check if you have not remembered.
And are you seriously suggesting to another person that they need to have humility? ... you need to listen a bit to yourself here before criticising others so much.
I am an invited and reciprocal friend of 2legs - I don't see your name on his Friends list - nor his on yours. Whilst there may not be 'rules' as such there is certainly a consensus of ettiquette here.
I'm off just now, meeting some friends in RL, so don't expect any further replies.

i dont believe i called it an "old" link... but rather one that i was able to access a cupla years ago... and that i wasnt sure but surely it must still be available...
say what you will about your length of time on here or level of participation...
the way you act smacks of expected privilege that comes from longstanding membership...
and yes... you said it "seemed" like an invitation to come in here on my journal...
and i was too polite to disagree with you
and a bit confused
it seemed like you... i dunno... protested too much...
you were rationalizing how you got here
weird
i remembered and remember
it felt like ...parrying
like you were setting up for some sort of sparring match
and i was right
humility?
i am sorry but... yes... i am suggesting to another person that they need to have humility
please let me remind you that you are not an invited nor reciprocal friend of mine
i never invited you in here
you insinuated yourself in here
and now you are fighting me here
please go away
whew
