Pumpkin Frenzy!
Edward the Bonobo - Gone. Started conversation Oct 23, 2006
Last year I carved the neighbours' pumpkins to raise money for Oxfam.
This year I've volunteered to sit in the window of my local Oxfam shop and do them. Well...I *say* 'I've volunteered'. Strictly speaking, my wife has volunteered me, but it's such an excellent idea that I'm not complaining.
The scam is that people btink me their pumpkin and I carve it into something fancy. I have to say, I'm quite the dab hand. One of last year's is featured on The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster's site. The store manager is trying to get the greengrocer across the road to donate some pumpkins that we can sell, too.

Splendid idea! I'll be doing my own FSM pumpkin, so I won't be patronising your local Oxfam, but I might make a small donation elsewhere.

I've just realise the significance of Montague's 'btink'. It's had me puzzled all day. Yes, it *is* an odd way to spell 'bring', isn't it?
But I'm not very good at gnaarams, so I'm not sure who Montague is.

I don't think Montague is an anagram- I have seen his around before.
I always love your pumpkins, Edward (and don't get started with the pervy comments, mister!). And what a worthwhile cause.

I suspect Edward was being ironic about Montague. He's such a scamp anyway (Edward that is, not Montague, although he might be a scamp too for all I know, in fact I've had reasons to suspect he has leanings that way).

From what I've seen, they've both got some scamp-like tendencies.
I meet the nicest people on Edward's journal.

£111 raised...and I've brought in a Scooby Doo and a Satan to sell at work.
It was a fun day...although I was shattered and desparate for a beer by the end of it. I had some assistance with gunk scooping from a school volunteer and I chatted to her, trying to talk her out of Christianity. . The store manager was also very helpful. I had my photo taken with her outside the shop and she's sending it to her local press contacts.
A couple of people had unusual requests that tested my artistic powers to the limit...a ghost; a headstone;...and...a . Disappointingly, one orv two people - and it seemed to me especially the ones with the special requests - gave insultingly miserly donations (we recommended £5)
And if you think a is unusual...Poop asked me to do him Spot the Dog.
