Thank you
it paid that I can speak and write in English, and know a little French as well.
The one who had the job wasn't good, so they had to fire him (he hadn't been there for long). And at the moment only people who don't even speak English have applied for the job, which I find unbelievable in that area of work. Plus I had started an apprenticeship as forwarder in my youth, but didn't finish it - but for them that counts as well.
It is just great to get such a chance - not many employers do that nowadays. And I will be able to feed my children without living from social service - if things go well. That is the best about it.

Bel, forwarder is the one who tells the trucks where to go.
Prof: my French is awful, and I told the senior boss that, but he believes in me. Same like saying: you have learned in that industry at least 1,5 years, so you know about it (well knowing that is more than 20 years ago). And because he believes in me I will do my best so I won't disappoint him.

In other words you'll do the logistics?
I'm off to sleep now, had a horrible night last night and am very tired.
Sleep well all.

so have you decided?
If I were you, which I'm not, I'd give it a go - you can always tell them you'll do it on a trial basis to see how it is. And if you want to do part time, you could find someone else no problems.
Your English will MORE than make up for a lack of french - although my experience with my french customers says that you need to start brushing it up: fast! hehe
but anyway, it is a fab opportunity so

Hallo Sho,
of course I do give it a try. So I just notice that being out of house for 11 hrs is a long time - but then I must say I didn't sleep well the last nights.
I will see if it works out at home - my daughter didn't seem all too happy when I told her, but that was on the phone since she is visiting her father at the moment.
I will see, but I like the opportunity

I think, you got the job not only thanks to your command of English.
You`re proved to be a very good manager in many respects.
From my point of view, your offspring can be proud of you.

it's a big change for your daughter - but you all have to think about how it is for all of you in the long term. Children can get used to anything! it's the adults who have the hard time!

oh yes, she will get used to it. Plus she knows it is better to live without money from the social service (though in fact in doesn't make a change at the moment if I work parttime or fulltime). On the long run having a fulltime job is much better (I am thinking of the time when the kids leave home and of my retirement money).
Paulchen, my language skills were very important for their decision. It seems hard to find people with adquate skills - which I don't understand. When I did my apprenticeship more than 20 years ago - as forwarder (but I didn't finish it) that was one of the reason why I got the job. Good English + knowledge of French. And now it is again this combination that helped.
Funny enough is that the Senior is sure that I will manage it, knowing well I didn't take exams in this job, and didn't learn more than 1,5 years.
My boys are also sure I will manage - so I just believe in it myself, so many people can't be wrong
