Hello Everyone ,
It has been a long time since I have put a journal entry up so I thought I would give it a go .
I know that a lot of you have been eager to see pictures of my allotment and garden so I have finally got around to putting them onto Flikr .
I didn't take many last year, but as I now have a better camera I will be taking photo's and so all my friends on h2g2 can have a look .
Well, I will put the link in and keep my fingers crossed that it works .
If any of you know the name of my Orchids could you please let me know, it has gone out of my head and cannot find it in my Horticulture books .
Right here goes, take care everyone, Nigel .
Just tried clicking on the link myself and it does not work. If you copy and paste the full address into your address box (top of screen) then it should work that way.

Nigel! I cannot explain the problem with your link; but it certainly has something to do with the bit at the end, which I have posted below:
@N02/
If you can get hold of Icy North, he may be able to help you - he's brill at that sort of thing.

I got your Flickr site with no problem on this but maybe because I am a member and was logged in.

PS it worked when I am signed out too. Suggest you all try the above link again.
The photos are lovely by the way Nigel. All your hard work was worth it.

To those interested - if you get the page up, run the Allotment set as a Slide Show. You can see how much work Nigel put in

Thanks Websailer ,
To look back and see what it was like when I first took it on and how much work I have put into it is quite amazing .

Hi Nigel,
Sorry I could not get onto your picture show.
The only two orchids I know are
Cymbidium - very long strap-like leaves. The stems bear a great many flowers of many different kinds of colours. We used to grow ithem outdooes in Zim.
The other one is
Phaelenopsis. I had eight of these on my window sill here in Sevelnoaks. when I went to Torquay last year. All eight perished. however, I shall try again when Iwe move - hopefully at the end of the month.
Go well, and I hope that we shall soon be able to see your allotment. Have you started putting in any seeds for spring and summer yet?
I suppose not. Have you had buckets of rain?

Hi Christiane *waves*,
Oh dear, your having problems too in accessing my pictures .
Thank you for the info on the orchids . I think they are Cymbidiums, thinking about it . I love orchids, the flowers last for ages and always look special and unusual.
It must have been lovely to see them in the wild growing outdoors .
We have had a lot of rain the past few days, today has been dry and sunny this morning but more rain is forecasted for the next couple of days .
I know you are very busy but if you get a minute, there is a post on my allotment thread for you, just asking about your balcony .
Take care and hope everything goes okay with your broadband on Friday .

Hi all
I'll have a look at your photos tomorrow Nigel, once my broadband is up an running I should be able to identify your Orchids, if you havent done so already and take a look at your allotment

Hi Nigel ,
No my dear friend,
Cymbidiums do not grow wild in Zim. The fact is that I used to grow them in large terracotta pots outside. i.e. I did not have a greenhouse.
I shall look up the allotment thread, and see what questions you are asking me. I have to do it quickly as I want to plant the things before I move in. I do not think that the other residents would enjoy me trying to haul compost up in their pristine lift!!.
Go well,
Christiane.

Hi Nigel,i thought i would pop over here and see what you have been up to After a bit of fiddling about i found you photos and have added you as a contact on flckr, that way i can go to your page any time.I see Websailor has already beaten me to it.I was amazed at what you have done to that allotment and your garden is so neat and tidy.My garden is more a wildlife affair, which is another way of saying,it's a mess.Answering your query about the duck,i think it is a Mallard, but no doubt WS.will soon put me right

Websailor Posted Jan 17, 2008
Bluesue, your garden sounds like mine and yes, the duck is a female mallard.
Perhaps we should tell him

Hi Nigel - just saw your e-mail (sorry about the delay - I don't check e-mail that often)
Hmmm, h2g2's conversation parser doesn't like that @ symbol, does it? If you copy the whole thing and paste it into your browser URL box, then it works, but you really want a link.
If you create a guide entry, and change the style to Guide-ML, then you should be able to include the link as follows.
My photo album
Then, you can just paste the A-number of your guide entry into your conversation. Here's a test one I prepared earlier: A31244618
Or, more simply, just paste the above link into the Guide-ML on your Personal Space.
Hope this helps! Tell me if it doesn't
