No! Not the pups, me.
Having a bit of an off week, so if I become direct and abrasive, it's not you, but me.
Too many hours in work (60 down, 12 to go). Too many niggles. Almost walked out two days ago and I'm not much happier now.
This time I'm off to see the stress councilor at work. I doubt her ability already (my experience is that I do it better than them so i leave before i start). Still, at least I get an aromatherapy sesion and i know that soothes for a while at least.
guess my chakras are out of kilter (no, not mocking because i do actually beleive in such things) but this time im not sorting it on my own. Too many folk are pushing me towards therapy before i burn out like the 7 others from our team that have already gone thru it.
Work + guilt = family friends etc are all just too much!
so if im short (theres usually a joke after such comments but i cant beer to think one up) Im sorry.
Sarccy, witty service will be resumd as soon as poss.

I have decided to see the works therapist. Since several senior members of staff have suggested it (along with a couple of colleagues who I have high regard for- both have had time off recently after burn out). But most of all because every online survey tells me that I'm past the sellby date on this. And finally because overnight my efficiancy and concentration has dropped.
I don't put much store in councilors, they have failed me before. However this one doesn't just do the interview thing, she also does stuff like aromatherapy (something VFRgal has regularly and it definately works).
I may even pay a visit to VFRgals therapist. She's a down to earth biker, takes no SHoneT, and we have folk in common in the bike world. She also sorted me chakras (Oooer) when I was having asthma attacks from stress.
A long chat with the boss has got me down for a 2 or 3 week exchange with someone from a sister group in the south of france (if it comes off, stuff like this often doesn't) which I might just exchange my plane ticket for a ferry with the bike. Although I don't know the area well, I do know it, love france and an old work mate is out that way. So it could be good for me. Also on offer are training courses that I have been reticent about due to cost and location. All the one in Manchester (the most local) mess with my shift pattern. So look out Edinburgh, London or Brum! It'll only be a few days but I like putting managers in their place on these things. (when I did a union one I managed to upset a whole gang of girls who still worked in an all out when the whistle blows enviroment ).
Funny how our parents didn't go thru this shit. Still they usually had jobs for life and didn't have bikes capable of 160+ either. Therin may lie the problem, poor Avel Du has been collecting dust for far too long and must come out of hibernation at the end of the month before I go nuts!
Anyway time to play with GML again and do a bit more on the home page. Funny, when I first tried it I went loopy trying to figure it. Yet now I find it relaxing, if only I had the time.

It certainly does! If the work counsellor has been recommended, and does aromatherapy AND is a biker then she sounds worth a try at least. I also think the chance to do a swap and go to France for a couple of weeks could well be worth it. A chance to ride the bike over, and have a total change of scenery could do you the world of good Outrider!
Keep us posted, hope it all works out for you luv!

Look out Edinburgh?
*looks about nervously*
Often people only feel the need to do this kind of thing when they are already having difficulty staying afloat - rather than when they get tired arms from swimming too hard.
It is definitely a good move - nothing to lose by trying it and if VFR gals person is ok and you trust her then it is a head start too.
I have a real problem with patronising, inexperienced people telling me how to deal with life. Fortunately after much digging through the crap, I found a real gem who has been a wonder for me.
You may have to shop around for the one you feel confortable with but it will be worth it.
And 'treating' your mind, body and spirit, both individually and as a whole, is just what Mort orders!
Seriously though - you are taking the right steps

Thanks for the support folks!
I have always had some cynicism in me, it helps keep a balanced view. But the fact that I'm becoming an out and out cynic bothers me. I can usually see if folk are trying to do good even if I disagree with their methods, but right now I'm mostly negative.
Fortunately HooToo and the boys are a good outlet.
Since giving up her meds and councilling VFRgal is on a more even keel. And to be honest, a break from me might do her good as I must be having a negative influence on her progress too.
The boys may be an issue. They sulked from the moment I packed my case until a couple of days after my return from the 3 day trip to Holland. But if it comes off I think I need me time. I also need to ride a bike in France and get over the accident a bit more. In the past I've always got straight back into whatever has held me up. This has lingered for nearly 8 yrs (10:45 July 18th, the day before her mums birthday). Not that I haven't tried, but I have allowed circumstances to defeat me far too easily.
I knew when I was about to selfcerify myself and walk out of work during yet another crisis, it was time to act. Hence the online surveys being used to confirm what I already knew.
Let battle commence (after a tab, the TT review on MM, and a bottle of Bushy's sent by my cousin from the Isle of Man.).

A biker? Not rush?
you might as well tell a Boxer not to drool
Over the last week another white boxer has appeared on the field. The owners don't seem keen on mixing, although that could be because they had two boxers (a red and a white) and I only had one dog wih me. I know what a brace of boxers can be like!
These two are nadged from playing footie on the field!
Mort, have a look at flick of the wrist. It's been pub'd on Mostly harmless. And I did it in GML. Home page is being worked on, but that's GML too.

I still have thet thread bookmarked to reply too - which is why you haven't heard from me in it otyherwise I will totally ignore it.
I am trying to keep up with half my convos that need a quick reply or that i feel need a response asap. The rest are in my pending tray!
I am happy anytime to help you change stuff to G-ML but as you have said before - the more you do it the better you get at it
Jaffa was most upset the first time he saw another ginger cat.
Having lived with 2 black/a bit of white ones it added to his feeling of superiority knowing he was different to the others. He was topcat in the house too (incuding being above me!)
He was most put out to see another ginger cat
So it might do the boys good to see another the same. Although I doubt they have reached that level of intellectual thinking required unlike my Jaffa

PS feel free to remind me about reading your entry - I am not avoiding it - just want to give it some proper time
So nudge away.

All nudges accompanied by bottle of wine!
The boys know they are white and have so far mistaken horses and bulls at distance (they whinge to play) and sheep. Had to keep a sharp look out in the lakes cos it was lambimg time. I don't think they would attack (play is first) but it would have scared sheep and thats not fair.
I've been suffering the shakes. It was a bit like when I realised that I used to drink too much (7nights inc 24 hr binges) and decide to pack it in. done the same with other stuff over the years, so I know I can do it, except with fags. I take work too serious, and take responsibility for those working with me even tho I should only act as a focal point. Boss reckons I should leave my concience at the gate and only pick it up when i leave. Thats not me, but i have to try and get less involved in the battles.
watched 95's IOM Mad Sunday on men and motors last night (whilst supping me 'Bushys'. we were there and in it (the bike anyhow). what was funny was VFRgals reaction to wet T shirt girls. Shes so open minded on most things (her best mate for years has been 'out of the closet, He and his boyfriend are decent proffessional blokes, who work hard and have helped change my views..funny how we judge what we know little of). for me its a sign that she is still down, but better than was.
You can imagine how many broken egg shells we trail. But no poxy stress can beat us long term.
