Somebody's gone off and gotten their entry on Jelly (Jello) accepted, And I've got one of my own submitted. And theirs is better. This makes me less than cheerful. Why can't I ever win?

I haven't read the official version, but yours seems like it is guide-worthy. Why not mention it to whoever edited the official version? This can be a really easy way to get in the guide, because the editors can add anything useful you have to say to the existing entry, and you get a researcher credit. I've used this strategy myself

Post a message on the home page of whoever is listed as editor for the official entry. Give them the address of both your article and the official article, and ask if there is anything in yours that can be added.
See my guide entry on Mystery Science Theater 3000 for encouragement. The first two paragraphs were written by someone else. I felt the entry was a little short and mentioned it to the editor, who suggested I expand on it. 2 weeks later, my stuff was added to the original and the whole thing was posted as an official combined entry.
Perhaps the situations are different, but it's worth a shot. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion. I've done that now, hopefully something will happen with it.
