Lol!

Dodgy: Prone to cause embarrasment. A dodgy comment is usually a sexual one.
Also means prone to falling apart, in a mechanical sense. ("That engine's a bit dodgy, isn't it?")

ahh... i see....thanks for explaining itsmiley - smiley

curiosity killed the cat...
i'm definately in danger of dying.... i'm far too curious for my own good.

smiley - laugh Y'know, 'curious' is a word that a couple of other friends keep using at the moment, too...

They want me to organise them into a threesome, but I don't see why they can't do it themselves... /they're/ the ones who are curious, dammit! smiley - rofl

Anyway, let's hope you also have nine lives. smiley - smiley

i'm very curious.

i went up on the roof of the house yesterday. it was really funsmiley - biggrin... and quite the adventure.

smiley - biggrin 'Hey I can see my house from heeeerrrrrreee....!"

smiley - cheers

smiley - erm When you say you're curious... do you mean in a general sense? Or in a very specific way? (Tell me to sod off if you don't want to say. smiley - ok )

chances are i'll never tell you to sod off... so never be afraid to ask me somethingsmiley - smiley

i think i'm jsut curious in the general sence... i like new experiences.... in so many way's i'm still a little kid... i love the idea of adventures, and cant turn down the opertunity... and going on the roof was an adventure for me... i'd alwaays wanted to...

smiley - biggrin Yay! Don't ever lose that... a childlike enthusiasm for new experiences is a rare and beautiful thing. Kind of the opposite of how old fogeys are set in their ways, I guess...

hopefully i wont...
its fun to be adventurous and curious.... the only thing that would stop me from new experiences is fear of the unknown. i really envy people who dont let that bother them...

smiley - huh But fear of the unknown is /exactly/ why people lose that childlike enthusiasm! They're mutually exclusive! How can you be enthusiastic and explore new experiences if you say you have a fear of the unknown??! smiley - laugh

smiley - erm i...uh, um... well i dont know...some things i's totally not afraid of. like if its just me i'm fine. like climbing on the roof. but if its invilving other people i get a little scared.. like going for a job on the first day.
if it involves other peolple i like to do things wiht a friend.. jsut so its not too much of an unknown. i dont really know how to explain it. i mean if on the first day of work a friend came wiht me i'd be fine... its hard to explain.
if i dont have time to think about something, i'm ok. but if i have time to think my brain will cook up all sorts of things that could go wrong...

Ah. I believe that's known as social paranoia. smiley - cuddle
Practice helps. That's what I have to do for example, to ease my fear of public speaking.
If I were there with you I'd invite you to come out to a cafe or something with me, somewhere neutral where we can just sit and watch people talking to each other, so I can help you notice how people's body language works. I reckon that would help you become more confident in dealing with people; at the moment I think you see other people as unpredictable and random forces, and that scares you in a way. Am I right?

going to a cafe would be very nicesmiley - smiley.
thanks.

you're kind of right, in a way. i think its more that i think theres a very very real possibility that someone wont like me.... and i suppose i figure speaking can only make it worse.... but that doesnt make any sence really, its not like i have a speach impediment or anything.... its just that i'll probably say something stupid, something that i'll think back on it later and think to myself 'oh my goodness! i cant believe i said that!!!'

Well if they're going to dislike you without taking the time to get to know you, then you're better off not knowing them anyway.
/Everybody/ has a list of doozies they've said at some point. I've successfully managed to scrub most of mine from my memory, so I'm certainly not going to hold anybody else's against them.

you're probably right, but it never seems that simple when i'm there...

lucky you've ereased all the stupid things yo've said from your memeory... i've got the kind of memory that has a knack for remembering all sorts of horrible things but kinda forgetting, or not totally believeing the good things...

smiley - hug One of the signs of depression.
I've recently heard that if you practice planning and making lists and planning ahead and stuff, it can help get rid of depressive behaviour.

I'm going to start doing that... after I work out how to improve my time-management... smiley - erm

waht i said is a sign of depression?

i cant plan ahead.. it makes me even more depressed and very stressed out. the more in the moment i live and if i only think ahead to things i'm looking foreward to i find its better for me...

Yeah, "...remembering all sorts of horrible things but kinda forgetting, or not totally believing, the good things..." It leads to depression. It's also a symptom of depression, as far as I'm aware, which would explain why depression is contageous. smiley - grr

If you make plans then you can deal better with bad stuff when it happens, 'coz you've already prepared for it... I suppose that's how it works, anyway.
Mainly I'm mentioning it now because it came up in my cognition lecture the other day; people who are depressed show decreased activity in the anterior frontal lobe of the brain; that's where planning and organisation happen. If you practice using a part of the brain then it gets stronger, like a muscle. So I'm hoping that if I practice making plans and lists and stuff then it will help me get less depressed.
I figure it's worth a try, anyway. smiley - ok

Post 40

Arisztid Lugosi

well yes, i suppose it is worth a try.

but maybe i'm jsut too much of a pesimist or whatever... if i start to think ahead too much i start to think about all sorts of terrible things that could happen....smiley - erm
