My New Job
Lochangel Started conversation Sep 30, 1999
It is the end of day 2 and I have not felt like this in a long long time. I am tired, my eyes ache and my brain is buzzing. But I am so happy. I had forgotten how wonderful the charitable sector is. I am stunned by the people I am working with - how warm, welcoming and down to earth they are! How easily I fit into the team! Perhaps saying the interview that I was a happy smiley person was not such a bad idea after all. The work is stimulating and I am learning new skills already! I am content at long last. Suddenly the torment of the Summer is forgotten.
Shame there is no internet access!

hey you ought to be grateful - it means I have to resort to net cafes which is why we are on line at the same time!

You mean you use net cafes for your surfing? Don't you have access at home?

Nick O`Teen Posted Sep 30, 1999
So, are you indoors at this cafe, or outdoors? What's the place like? Do they serve Guiness? Must be just after 11:00pm there now (it's 3:00pm here). Is it quiet or noisy?

Fantastic! I'm so glad you found a job that makes you happy.... but you do realise that this contravenes the 1990 "Curtailment of Fun and Pleasure in the Workplace" act, don't you?

ah..those pre 1990 days, dancing round the office with flowers in our hair, close harmony singing and as
much lunchtime scrumpy as we could drink...

Mr Sapsea Posted Oct 1, 1999
Maybe its to do with the male/ female balance...I wish I could explain
the atmosphere in a 96% male workplace..

oh...and what's Ms angel doing here on a friday lunchtime????
My New Job
Nick O`Teen Posted Oct 1, 1999
Pardon my west coast Canadian outsider-ness, but what the heck is "scrumpy"?
My New Job
Mr Sapsea Posted Oct 1, 1999
its cider, usually cloudy and potent, tastes like a soft drink...its Grrrreat!
My New Job
Lochangel Posted Oct 1, 1999
I was in a cybercafe on Piccadilly but it was too expensive.
The best times I have had have been on Scrumpy !!!!
My New Job
Nick O`Teen Posted Oct 1, 1999
Is "Scrumpy" some sort of colloquialism, or is it an actual brand name? It sounds so... eccentric.
My New Job
Mr Sapsea Posted Oct 1, 1999
strangely enough some of my worst times have been cider induced,
merrydown night when I was at uni...

Oh, you mean like canadian beer? When it comes to beer, the average Canadian thinks: If it's less than 6% alcohol, it's only for children and the elderly.
