Well.... Jeff *is* from Ohio and he called it a flatbed. 
And because he is a man, and it's a well-known and universally accepted fact that men know more about autos that the female of the species, then he's right!!! 
Coincidentally, I think my friends in North Carolina are sick of trying to work out what is a "pickup" and what is a "flatbed", because they're now considering moving to Aussissippi.
Btw, I sat in the cab of one of those outrageously large utes - the extremely thin atmosphere up there made me dizzy!
