I *hate* Christmas.

And I'm sure I'm not the only one.
My parents always use it as an excuse to get narky and blame each other about the crappy way they feel.
I don't understand why people have to make Christmas day *special*. Why can't every day of the year be special? Why is Christmas a time of giving - why can't we be like that normally? Why is it that so much effort and stress goes into *one* day?
Don't feed me crap about the birth of Jesus - in all honesty, how many people celebrate Christmas because of the birth of Christ and how many because of a consumer-driven desire to have the coolest new toys?
Yes, maybe I'm overly cynical. Maybe I'm over-sensitive. But surely I'm not the only person who curls up and cries every time a conversation about Christmas is started, or when they watch the Carols on tv.
I just don't understand why, if this time of year is such a painful one for most people, why they continue to 'celebrate'.
Well, maybe there's a God above, But all I've ever learned from love was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you

*Some* of us actually like Christmas.
It's always been a pleasant time with family together at our home, and was always nice at my parents home. And yes, I am celebrating the birth of Jesus, someone that indeed does give me peace , even though most likely Jesus wasn't born in December at all, but that's the date that was picked to celebrate it anyway, so I'll play along - no different than having a birthday party on a day that's more convenient than your actual birthday, at least in my opinion.
Coolest new toys? Not for me, in fact I don't even care if I get any s, but I do enjoy giving them to other people. But yeah, you're right about the idea that people should have the Christmas spirit all year round, but of course they don't.
I guess I'm just because I do enjoy the season - the decorations, the christmas carols, wrapping the gifts - even if it is exhausting to do it all.
I'm so sorry it is nothing but painful for you.

Sorry - I was a tad emotional when I wrote that yesterday - I didn't mean to be insulting
Christmas isn't *all* pain for me, not by any means - I was just feeling self indulgent cos I'd been sitting in the corner of my wardrobe for the previous ten minutes crying under a quilt, and the night before the carols on tv made me cry for no reason!

Oh
*hugs*
I'm not a huge fan of it, either. The only pleasure I get out of it is giving me mates things

Well that's all as may be, but it gives me at least half an excuse to do this -
