The 'After Eight' Entry is doing well in Peer Review smiley - smiley so we can start on our next project. smiley - magic

We've done a Mars - 'Maltesers', that's still in UpdateForum waiting for its turn to be selected by the Eds, a Nestle - 'After Eight Chocolate Mints', so how about a Cadbury, I'd quite like to do 'Flake - The Erotic Chocolate' is that okay with everyone?

The annoying thing is, there was a progamme on TV not long ago, about adverts, and it included the names of the Flake ladies from the adverts, plus another info and I didn't think to record it or take notes, with a bit of luck it will be shown again in the near future. I've not started any research, their names may be online somewhere. smiley - smiley

The Cadbury's website has pictures from the adverts but no info:
http://www.cadbury.co.uk/EN/CTB2003/marketing/tv_ads/1970s_TV_Ads.htm

So far I've not found the names of the girls.

Erotic? I just try and eat it without making a mess! smiley - rofl

I'll take that as a yes vote smiley - biggrin

Flake has a few interesing things about it, from how it was inspired, to the flake girls and erotic adverts, to the fiasco with the launch of the white flake, and Anthea's wedding, and that's just what I can think of before any researching. smiley - smiley

smiley - cheers for the link loonycat, that's got some useful info

I've just found this one

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/3570680.stm

and I already had a few in my Bookmarks, that I came across during other smiley - choc research including this one smiley - magic

Cadbury's made the 'Flake Dipped' just for messy eaters like us loonycat smiley - laugh

I think the programme was 100 best TV adverts, or sonmething like that. I've found a few best TV Adverts web sites, but none have much info on them. smiley - erm

This lists the adverts from the C4 programme:

(No. 26)

I'm finding some rather dodgy links relating to flake girls! smiley - yikes

Yeah, that's one of the ones that I found, there's no links for more info smiley - smiley other sources say that the Flake adverts reached number 3 in the best ads. smiley - erm

I've just found this one, that gives the years and faces of the girls
http://www.whom.co.uk/sugar/flaketv.htm I've not had a proper look at it yet, there may be more info there.

Have you read the After Eight PR thread, I just posted a link there, it's a video clip, take a look, have a laugh. smiley - smiley

I really don't think their names are going to be anywhere online, I found this, it gives various details, but not the girl's names. (scroll down until you find the Flake one)

I'm giving up the search for the names of the Flake girls. smiley - oksmiley - smiley

Flake dipped is actually what used to be wispa is't it?

I found this: http://www.britishdelights.com/cadbury.htm

Only new thing is that apparently the flake is the biggest selling cadburies choccy bar ever.

Magwitch - My name is Mags and I am funky.

Nah Wispa was something totally other, completely yummy a bit like an Aero but with many more smaller bubbles smiley - drool

Flake also do an Ice cream (still have some in my freezer so can give ingredients to that) and a praline dipped flake (think I've got at least one of the those in the fridge!) We also have mini flakes but the packet has been opened and so I can't tell you how many were there! But lo! What is that you tell me, my little one? We need some more! You'll have to wait til Thursday, you little tike!

Hmmm, no not much like a Wispa, which if I remember correctly was bubbly, the Flake Dipped is still crumbly and flakey, just more firmly held together by the chocolate coating. smiley - smiley

>"Only new thing is that apparently the flake is the biggest selling Cadburys choccy bar ever."

It's too easy for companies to claim one of their products is the best selling. I already made that mistake with Nestle claiming their After Eight mints were the original after dinner chocolate mint, when in fact they were not. It's all part of the learning process of writing for the Guide. smiley - smiley

There's some useful info in that link you posted, I didn't know about the packs of fun size Flake, that link includes the weight smiley - magic I'll credit your name to the Entry Brown Eyed Girl smiley - oksmiley - smiley

smiley - cheers magwitch, did it really take me that long in between clicking 'Reply' and clicking 'Post Message' smiley - dohsmiley - smiley

I've got the ice creams and the flakes, if you happen to be buying another pack of the fun size, the amount and length would be helpful.

Have to smiley - run now, be back later

Magwitch - My name is Mags and I am funky.

I don't mean the cones Em, I see you already have those. I mean the tub of ice cream, with flaky bits in it and on the top! Will be buying the (not very) fum sized ones again!

Post 16

Ah, you mean the Flake ice cream tubs Magwitch, I used to have one of them quite regular, scoff it all in one go, all to myself smiley - drool though as I've been having Maltesers and After Eight ice creams, I've not had the tub for a while, nearly got it last Friday, until I saw the box of 99 Cones, just *had* to have them, double smiley - drool I can get a tub in the near future.smiley - smiley

What I'm not going to be able to get is the Flake Moments, the box of Flake chocs, too dear for research purposes (I'd love a box, but won't even bother to ask partner to buy me them, I already know the answer)

Any Coronation Street fans here, can you remember roughly when Cadbury's started sponsoring Coronation Street, or when the Flake Moments were used in the sponsoring?

They started in 1996 although I can't download the link at the moment.

I don't watch much so didn't realise it had stopped!

smiley - doh the answer to my question in post #16 is at the bottom of the Entry smiley - laugh

Flake Moments were launched in 2004, that would have been when they were advertised as part of the Coronation St sponsorship, and that would tie in with when a woman in front of me in Woolworths bought Flake Moments a couple of years ago, telling the cashier, she'd seen them when watching Coronation St. smiley - magic
