Hi Cakewalker,
We're on the island of Lipari, which is halfway between two volcanoes - Vulcano which steams and puts out sulphurous smells, and Stromboli, which is far more exciting, erupting molten stuff every fifteen minutes. Weather is cloudy but hot, and it's only rained (torrentially) once. We managed to swim in the sea, which is more than we could have done in Edinburgh at this time of year...

(Will that do? If I'd got your request before we left, I could have visited the internet cafe in Lipari. You really can't get away from it all any more... )
