It's deep, how you can be so shallow.
I'm afraid 'coz I have no fear.
And I did'nt beleive in magic.
Till I see you disappear.
Everyone is somebody.
But nobody wants to be themselves.
If I want to understand me.
I have to talk to someone else." Gnarls Barkley - Basically

Poignant and invariably true Miz.
An Original by Merle Haggard {country version}
Somewhere Between
Somewhere between your heart and mine,
There's a window that I can't see through.
There's a wall so high it reaches the sky,
Somewhere between me and you.

Are there any rules for this thread Miz? It strikes me that we need rules to keep the thread going - and it could be an excellent, very enjoyable thread if it works out.
Anyway, in the absence of any rules I can discover, here's part of one of Hank Williams' brilliant lyrics. They make their point with economy and directness, and vivid imagery (at their best) which is how I like my poetry too:
Lost Highway
I'm a rolling stone all alone and lost
For a life of sin I have paid the cost
When I pass by all the people say
Just another guy on the lost highway
Just a deck of cards and a jug of wine
And a woman's lies make a life like mine
On the day we met, I went astray
Started rolling down that lost highway.
I don't know if they work here, but the two 'Just's work in the song by knitting the verses together - and Just...guy and Just...cards are on the exact same sequence of notes to make the effect even stronger.
The image of the Lost Highway led recently to the David Lynch film of the same name. [A great film IMHO]. There are two more verses to the song - via Google of course.

Struggled to keep this out - the Rolling Stones were of course not named after the first line of this song. They were named after 'Rollin' Stone' by Muddy Waters, as practically everyone knows. Nor the other way round: this song pre-dates them by at least ten years.
