h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Mugawub is not a real word but it was sort of borrowed from Jasper Carrot's piece on how to wind up toffee nosed commuters.

You get on the commuter train and watch everyone trying to do the Times Crossword. You then pick up your copy of the times and your cheap ballpoint pen and with great aplomb set to filling in the squares very quickly, hopefully making them all feel terrible for not getting on as well as you are.

Then when you get off at your stop you leave the newspaper on the train. If anyone, in desperation, looks at what you've done it's full of words like mugawumftable.

I love that word! We must find a definition for it. I hereby open the 'Best Mugawumftable Definition Competition'!

First suggestion: A type of coffee table with one leg so much shorter than the others that you need to put a scrabble dictionary under it to keep it from wobbling.



(And on a not-terribly-realted note: Hebrew is great for scrabble, because we have no vowel letters... )

Mugawumf is inflammable cocoa. Get a mug of it, light a match - wumf! and a Mugawumftable is the ... I think I'll stop there. Yael's was better

...Of course, it could be 'mugawumftable' as in something that can be made into a mugawumft - such as mugawumft powder (just add milk!).

It sounds like some cartoon charecter or something...
