Sixth h2g2 Birthday!
Peta Started conversation Apr 27, 2005
Tra la la! It's my 6th h2g2 birthday today!
I signed up just after middday, after jumping across from DouglasAdams.com.
Now what would I do without h2g2?

Happy birthday!
Without h2g2 you wouldn't have been sucked into the best site in the Galaxy and you wouldn't have had half as much fun

Thank you all very much!
I've been working on loads of other communities lately, well messageboards. And the thing I'm constantly trying to emulate is the vibe on h2g2. I'm trying to make them stick together and have a soul. You all know what I mean. h2g2 just has *it*.
I'm trying really hard to develop a collective consciensness in other areas. The h2g2 people do it naturally now. You moderate yourselves, you run yourselves, but all still remain radical, and that really incredible - you just have to step outside to see how unique this area is.
So my genuine sixth birthday wish is to say thank you all for being quite so incredible, and to thank you for leading the way in internet society. You're an amazing example, I constantly refer to you all in things that I say, and things that I do in my daily work. And I really hope that I can take your influence on to achieve the same kind of 'awareness' on the messageboards.
So, to you all, thanks for being every thing I hoped you would be, and so much more.

Aaawww!
But would that vibe have developed on its own or did it need some gentle guidance from the original community editor?
I thought it was tomorrow! That's why I was rooting through the backlog to find this photo:

Someone mention my name?
Happy Hootooversary, Peta... and to me, too.
The new user page shows my sign up date as March 19, 1999. There is an explanation for that on My Space.

Hi Witty Moniker,
Well that join date is really weird! I got the email too, I used to be on Starship Titanic too. The odd thing is that newusers page you're linking to. No idea what is going on in there. People like Ashley Stuart-Noble are listed, and he hadn't even *heard* of h2g2 until he joined, so it really is weird! Anyway great fun and really interesting!
Happy Hootoo to you too!
