Hoi Steve
Ik ben... sorry
I am shazz and I am also from England but now living in Holland. We have a Dutch Researchers Club here on h2g2 and we quite regularly hold meets etc - do please drop by and sign up if you are interested: A614503
I know exactly what you mean by the language, especially as I am now going to college specifically to learn Dutch! All those 'g's give me a sore throat!
Don't be put off by my name above this posting... I really am shazz U48304, but also run the h2g2 newspaper <./>ThePost</.> so masquerade as the Post Team more often than not.

Dag Shazz
How long you been here then?
Thank you for the welcome, have you tried the herring yet? I cannot bring myself to try it.
I will probably pop by the Dutch thing once I get my bearings, getting ready for the long weekend, people coming round for dinner tomorrow, decorating in the house, trying to find a home for the 50 odd fish we inherited with the house, just another typical weekend here in the Netherlands LOL
Tot ziens

Hoi Steve en een prettige Paastijd
(Hi Steve and Happy Easter)
I've been here 3 years now. I met my man on h2g2 almost 4 years ago and decided to move over to join him.
The herring? No way!!! They feature regularly in this house every time we have an 'occasion', but I refuse to swallow anything remotely undercooked.
Once you have sorted out your house and fish - are they tropical, cold water or salt water? - the first thing you need to do is change your name from Researcher 225227. Just click on the 'preferences' button and choose a name for yourself. You may want to use 'advanced search' - 'search for a friend' button to check if anyone else is registered with a similar name. I found over 100 'steves' so you may want to think of something a little different.
You have been welcomed by a few ACEs I see, so they will help you get your h2g2 home nicely furnished.
Let's hope that this glorious weather continues for the foreseeable future eh? I can't believe that it's gone from below freezing to 22 degrees plus in just a few short days!

Hi Shazz,
They are Koi and goldfish, we have a pond and the previous owner never said a word, we had been in for nearly 4 months and I went to the shed, heard a 'plop' and the pond was teeming with fish!! Imagine my surprise!!. Some of them are about 9-10 inches long.
Hope you had a nice Paastijd, we went to Amsterdam to the American bookstore to get a couple of PC manuals for my wifes new job. Funny but we met on the net too, she is from Canada, after my seperation from my first wife I thought I would be 'safe' corresponding with a lady 3000 miles away!
As you can see I have changed my name, think I have a long way to go before I can really earn that title tho'!
I am just about to go into the Dutch thingy, I have a few mins before I have to start work again, see ya!
Steve
