Barton died tonight
Mrs Zen Posted Apr 17, 2006
It is strange how some people's going reminds us of the words of John Donne: "No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were: any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee."
It's a quotation you'll recognise, and Barton's passing brought it to mymind. He touched many lives in unexpected ways, and we are all of us subtly the less for his passing.

Please accept my condolences, Richenda.
Barton was a genuinely good man, which is a rare and wonderful thing. He was also a good friend to LeKZ. Even though we've gone our seperate ways, I'd like to pass along her condolencs, as well.

I've no other way of getting hold of you at the present. I apologize for falling out of touch. Barton was a beautiful man, and his presence will be missed. My condolences, and my gratitude to you both for being True friends.
You don't have the email addy and I'm averse to sharing it here, as it contains my full name... you do have a phone number, however. You can use it, if and whenever.

I would like to extend my condolences too.
Barton helped me work on my entry about Passover, and indeed, pieces of his comments and notes made it into the entry. I think I got him reading a lot of Jewish text at the time...
I've lost touch with him, unfortunately, and only found out about his death last night. He'll be missed in this community, as others said.

I'm so sorry Richenda
I will never forget Barton's entry on Serendipity which I often read.
I hope you have some great memories to sustain you (there's a poem on my PS by Kahlil Gibran - read it when you're ready, I won't repost it here because it'll be too raw. I won't remove it because I'm going through a sad time as well.

It's been a long while since I'd run across Barton on here, but I do remember him.
I'm so very sorry for your loss.

He was the kindest, smartest, most understanding and patient person I've ever been privileged to call a friend.
I'll always miss you.

Sad to read of his passing Richenda.
So sorry for your loss.
Thank you for posting to all here
I was lucky to have some wonderfully unique discussions with him here on h2. I have always missed not having a chance for more of them.

A moderated post?
*gasp*
Hopefully only a person on premoderation(?)
Surely nothing disrespectful was posted.
Barton and Richenda deserve some respect

I didn't see it, but I doubt it was anything disrespectful -- more likely it was someone copying and pasting song lyrics, poetry, or something else under copyright protection.
