Need to Tidy my room
Acid Override - The Forum A1146917 Started conversation Oct 4, 2003
Just did the lounge downstairs, so I'm on a bit of a roll, thought I'd tidy up my room as well.
Problem is I have a lot of stuff and a big room. 'Whys that a problem' I hear you cry! The reason is that I have no storage beyond a wardrobe, tabe and 2 shelves about a meter wide.
I have all this stuff and nowhere to put it except the floor! So it's impossible to tidy up properly. I can't afford to buy anything, I have a near infinate supply of bricks a few breezeblocks and Kris said he might give me a plank of wood.
So I need inventive solutions, making a set of shelves is the obvious solution, it would fit, but the construction would limit the amount of space it would give me. Also clothes are a problem - I have too many to fit in my wardrobe. Finally how do I deal with computer stuff and paperwork considering my computer is on a table with no drawers and not a desk like I had last year?
AAAAGGGHHH! I hate housework when the conditions are good!

I was told that I needed to "tidy my room" this morning. I 1) was in the process of doing so already and 2) am 26. I gave a very curt reply.

The good news is that 1/2 the room is now pretty tidy. The bad news is that this was only acheived by moving mess into areas still to be tidied. Need I say this is not a sustainable process...
I have been telling myself I need to do it since I moved in months ago. Some of the stuff is still in the bags it arrived in.
Who told you to do that?

So you say you have *no* money to use for organizing stuff?

...
While I have money I would much rather spend it on other things.
See! I am a student.
Hijacking the cupboard from the dining room may be an idea...
Kris wouldn't mind, need to see what Laura thinks

Greg, your room is *huge*. There must be *something* we can get to help you organise it. Though the cupboard is onl sparsely filled at the moment, of course. The top one, anyway.

Here's what you do - get cinder blocks..I forget what you call them - big cementy squares about 14 inches by 6 inches thick. Use them to brace your plank shelving. Then buy baskets or crates that will fit in them so you have a cheap sort of drawers/organizer/shelving unit. The things rae surprisingly sturdy, so don't be afraid to make them several 'levels' high.

Thats not an issue. Since I'm doing nothing till a set of chester draws Ive been promised arrive the room is pretty much in the state you saw it last, except that anything fragile to the left of my bed has been trodden into nonexistance.
