Thanks Hyp
The journal aspect has run out of now, as there is only the after show party and clearing of the stage to report back on. What I lay in bed thinking about last night though, was that I had rushed off so quickly after the last show (in order to pick up a takeaway for my wife and daughter) that I neglected to remember to ask the props lady for the Punch and Judy puppets I made. I am fairly sure I'll get them back , and they won't be sent in error back to one of the hire companies , but until I have them in my hands there is a worry.
Watched a bit of the DVD available to cast members as a souvenir. It was taken on the second dress rehearsal when we were all in costume. It is surprising (even after having seen recordings of previous shows) how much the lighting can be used to focus attention from highlighting action or obscuring scene changes in the background. In the offstage dimness all scene changes could be seen flying in and out, on the recording all you see is Scrooge in the foreground
Saw myself in first scene with Scrooge - not the best performance, a fluffed cue, a few bum s, but entertaining seeing how it appeared to the audience.

Speaking of dress rehersals - I didn't know that they were attended by the public. I really have learned a lot from your journal.

They aren't. The reason the recording was made during the dress rehearsal was because there wasn't an audience and the three cameras used could be set up in the auditorium without interfering with paying punters. There normally are a *few* people sitting in the stalls watching who aren't needed backstage (life-members not in the show and so on).
Caveat: There are other societies putting on shows who may do things differently, and this journal only provides insights representative of one member of the cast
Key: Complain about this post
