Guess who could use some prayer for the next few weeks? Yes, me.
smiley - erm
I’ve contracted Lyme Disease. Two weeks ago, I found a tick on my body, a day-and-a-half after some lawn mowing. I stopped by Fulton Family Health after work and had a check-up. The PA there told me to watch for certain symptoms and monitor the bite area.

I’d recently been in prayer for a little kid who was dealing with Lyme disease, and our work group Safety Rep had briefed on this a few months ago, so I was aware of the consequences. On Monday this week, I called our family physicians and told them the bite still hadn’t healed and told them of the symptoms I was experiencing. They immediately prescribed antibiotics for the next few weeks. Believe with me that we’ve caught this early enough I won’t have to deal with any long-term illness associated with this infection. I know God wants each of us to be in full health and wholeness (3 John 1:2; Luke 4:17-21; Luke 10:19-20; Matt 10:29-32; Psalm 103:11-18), so I’m claiming that promise for myself.

My goodness, B4. An early diagnosis is really important with Lyme Disease. Thanks for letting us know about this. I'll be sending as much light in your direction as possible. smiley - hug

So far, the flu-like symptoms are unabated. I'm still achy and feeling stiff in my joints, beyond what I've experienced for my age. The small rash spots are already clearing up, though, and it's good to be rid of that small nuisance.

As for memory loss, I...um...well...what was the topic?
smiley - huh
Never mind. I just wanted to let y'all know I'm doing what it takes to clear this out of my system. And later today, after work, I'm going to stop by the Family Practice and ask the PA if she's learned anything from this situation. Perhaps: err on the side of treatment, rather than waiting for the symptoms to kick in...

Dear B4,

So sorry you have tick bite fever. where on earth do you live that you have ticks? Ithought we only had them in Africa.

Aha!! My memory returns . If you ever find another tick on yourself DO NOT PULL IT OFF. pUT VASELINE ON IT, !! tHAT WILL SUFFOCATE THE LITTLE BEAST AND YOU DO NOT GET TICKBITE FEVER. aT LEAST THAT IS WHAT WE BELIEVED IN THE OLD DAYS IN aFRICA.Forgive the capitals. I am an ancient old crone and too tired to correct it. !!

Lovely to read your journal entries. I hope we can be friends.

Get better quickly, and do not forget to eat yoghurt. anticiotics destroy organisims - not just the bad ones, so you need to replace the good ones you have.
This is done by the simple means of eating yoghurt.

Go well.

The PA called me yesterday and let me know my blood test showed no signs of infection in any of the categories common to Lyme disease. Evidently, we caught it in time and the antibiotics did the trick. Thank God!
smiley - ok
I won't try to pretend I wasn't worried there for a while. The symptoms were classic for the disease, and as I'm not 'young and invincble' anymore, I wanted confirmation this was being handled properly. I pestered the Family Clinic for almost a full week, asking questions and getting a solid game plan for success. Prayer and pharmaceuticals certainly did the trick!
smiley - applause
I also thank each of you for thinking of me, praying or meditating--or whatever your personal methodology might happen to be--concerning this situation, and petitioning on my behalf. A big hug to each and every one, and I ~mean~ it!

B4, that is absolutely wonderful news. Lyme Disease is really nasty. Thank heavens you got the antibiotics so quickly and that they were effective.

I think this calls for a snoopy dance. Or at least a conga! smiley - boing
