Well, I'm back from Canada, and this is pretty much something to keep me awake while I get over jet lag - I've been awake for a grand total of 26 hours and counting . We landed at Gatwick at 7am this morning and finally got through our front door at half past 12 thanks to the wonders of the British Rail system. I find it sadly amusing that the whole flight from Calgary took less than 9 hours, yet it took us five whole hours to get between London and Leamington Spa .
We had a wonderful time - the scenery was amazing, the people were lovely, and the food was fab too (I think I've put half a stone on in less than two weeks!). The Rocky MOutainteer train journey was brilliant, Banff and Jasper are brilliant places...we've got roughly 500 pics, some of which are decent too
I'll probably write something more detailed soon. I'm on a bit of an energy/mental efficiency rollercoaster at the moment and in my tired moments i start to lack coherence... as I am now. Dave is also getting very sleepy but is managing to be more coherent than me which isn't that hard at the best of times .
Till then, I'm off to drink lts of till its bedtime. Chat to you all soon!!

Oooh! I didn't expect to find you on here so soon after your return! Glad you had a good time - it all sounds fab!
I hope you will have time to post more of your travelogue when you are feeling a bit less jetlagged.
We fly to Calgary a week tomorrow. Eeek!

Hello!
I'm back on today (while Dave's in the shower) - a bit more awake, thankfully .
We had a *wonderful* time out there, and really didn't want to come back. The place is gorgeous, the people are really nice, and it feels much safer than Britain. Calgary is a nice place - it feels quite American, but without the rudeness.
I think I need to set up some sort of photo website so that I can put some pictures on there for hootooers to see - we took all of them at 9 megapixel resolution, so they're not really emailable, even with broadband!
The worst thing about getting back - apart from the jetlag - is the fact that I have about 5 loads of washing to do .
Chat soon

No, we flew Air Transat, which seemed to be a slightly more upmarket version of RyanAir - they're a Canadian charter airline. To be honest, they weren't that bad - the flights were smooth and pretty much on time, the service was OK... space wasn't exactly generous, but no airline ever gives you lots of room in economy. We've already said next time we go it's going to be Air Canada or British Airways .
The worst thing is that I appear to have got gastroenteritis from the in-flight food on the way back . I had thought my stomach was dicky due to jet lag and all that disturbance, but as I had a raging temperature as well, I went to the doctor this afternoon and he diagnosed gastro-enteritis.
I'm about to write up what we did, so prepare for an essay .
