If all life is sacred, perfect or just "IS" for this long, why would we redesign it? It did not work with the earth. Man has been trying to change the direction and flow of rivers. The rivers fight mans design during every flood. In cloning humans, maybe we are messing with the basic design of creation.( organs & cells are a different topic, 2 me) Creation being taken from either science or faith perspective .Take your personal pick. It seems the same answer pops up for me. I have no problem combining science and nature. Science and faith. *I believe the mind has a nature and nature has a mind* There R some scientist of faith. I personally believe (in unequal parts) in a blend of both evolution/spirit . I do not believe in seeing only black and white/ without the greyscale. I believe we may be messing wrongly, with the creation, with humanity. There is NO need,at this time, to *re-create. To do it just because we can, is NOT good enough for me.

Well said, Abbi. I draw the line (or would like to draw the line), at things like brocoflower, that brocoli-cauliflower hybrid, or the various fruit hybrids. Human beings...thats a 'whole new ball game'!! Lets not go there.

Correct spelling!
I agree with the idea that we need not mess with what already is the perfect way to reproduce
It takes all the fun out of things making the babies in the lab

I mean, it's essentially a cauliflower, with some of the chlorophyll, & other constituents (I guess thats a good word for it) of brocoli.

so have they crossed that naturally, or was it engineered in a lab?
the other thing about clone babies, is that they can't give consent. what are we going to do with the f*ckups (and there wil be lost of those) and how will we explain it to them ?

yep. not to mention the family , egg and sperm donor, adoption , grandparents rights and citicenship, international, law has not caught up. Not caught up to science that is. Certainly not as far as child welfare issues either.

I not totally sure, kea, most likely the simple crossing of the two, whether done with the seedlings, or grafting the mature plants.

phew.
i'm a 'keep it in the lab' one. definitely shouldn't be eating the weird stuff, or letting it grow outside.
and whole communities should be making the decisions, not just the science part.
ooh, lots of shoulds in this post
(don't get me started...)

I find the whole breeding bit enough under "natural" circumstances, without bringing science into it. I even find it odd when I look at & his dad & his 2 brothers, they're all so different yet have recognisable characteristics in common (apart from the obvious!!!) & the whole nature/nurture thing just hasn't been clarified, & probably never will be.
Even with Yoda, she has an identical twin, Pudding, who is as different personality wise as it's possible for 2 s to be. The fact that Pudding is being brought up by a raving loony has a lot to do with it! but even before they left their mum, Yoda was known as "the cuddly kitten".
Which reminds me, must go & look at that website on cute kittens you mentioned jazz!
Why they're messing about with clones I can't imagine; it must be for money. Dolly the sheep & ALL other cloned animals have been PROVED to be suffering from many defects, arthritis, premature ageing etc.
"The novel that will one day get finally written" deals with this in more detail. Look out for yourselves in it!!

At least 12 hours i should think abbi normal....about the other stuff...evolution happens..i don't think we should interfere with it..under the new theories of complexity we could hasten our own extinction by doing so.
