Someone told me today that my part of Ohio is in a subtropical climate. Sounds like it would be warm, doesn't it? Yeah. Well, the weather is hovering around 4 degrees F around here. In southern Ohio, mind you.
This is the time of year when seeing southerners in coats larger than mine in 64 degree weather really cracks me up
Merry Christmas and Holidays and generally have a nice winter, everyone.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Global warming is 90% myth.

Again! Again!
90% myth, eh? I'm just going to have to go outside and spray ten cans of air freshener...

That'll be that fancy "lake effect" working in your favor... if you like a white Christmas, that is
We started off with a comparatively balmy 15F this morning, which little more than doubled through the day. Nice 40-something for tomorrow, then Ohio-like for Friday.
Shall I send you some mittens for Christmas?

There's only a bit of snow around here right now. Not sticking to the ground.
I'd have killed for 30F today...

Hello from the snow belt, everyone! It's really friggin cold!
And a little PS- global warming is a misleading term, cause not everywhere is going to get warmer due to the increased global temperature. It's anthropogenic climate change, and North America and Europe are due to get a lot colder when the thermohaline circulation shuts down due to the massive input of cold freshwater from melting glaciers!

Hey Jimi Haven't seen you in a while...
Now, Scandrea, I have no idea what that means, but it doesn't sound good. I'm cold now.

That should make things a little clearer...

Persoanlly I hate the term Global warming as it implies constant warmer climes. However, what we are encountering is climate change which is leading to all kinds of extremes.

Actaully the main problem at the moment is that we do not know if this climate change is due from pollution and the ozone layer (or lack of it) or just another stage in the earths history, as the Earth its self fluctuates through different climatic conditions threw out the ages.
The other thing to consider is that most of the global warming will effect places vunerble to it, such as the north pole with its hole in the ozone layer, and we will not fully notice these changes for many years, but for marine life and animals etc the changes are more noticable. Such as england we have flowers in bloom along the Motor way that should not be in bloom right know. an even a drop in just three degrees of ocean temperature is seriously harmfull to the enviroment.
People have a tendancy to say "global warming and its six feet of snow out side", but as I pointed out to my mom the other day when she was complaining that at this time when she was younger their used to be a foot of snow and so I pointed out that the lack of it know could actually show the effects of global warming, plus that the summers in England are getting hotter at least.
But of course as already said all the above could just be natural changes as Earth goes through its continues cycle. But to be on the safe side we should try to cut down on pollution at all times.
Well thats what I think anyway, feel free to destroy my points.

Actually, it isn't the hole in the ozone layer that's driving global warming, through it is bad as well. The hole in the ozone layer lets in more ultraviolet radiation in the southern hemisphere, increasing the risk of cancer for everyone there. But good news- a model put out a few years ago taking into account our recent progress in banning CFCs says its due to close completely in about 40 years!
The driving force behind global warming is the emission of greenhouse gasses, like water vapor, methane, and most famously carbon dioxide. These trap heat reflected from the Earth's surface in the atmosphere.
And incidentally, high-resolution climate records from deep sea mud and ice cores show that Earth was in the middle of a cooling trend before the industrial revolution came along and started mucking things up.
