Hullo Friends.
My dear friend Hypatia U200042 has created a very interesting and exciting group called The Circle - a place for actual discussion, the sort of thing that 360 used to offer. It's at A2253331
I helped plan it, as a matter of fact, but don't let that scare you away! I only came up with some layout stuff and did the GuideMLing. The eloquent introductions and quotes are the work of Hypatia.
Do join in. It'll be interesting, I promise! And unlike other h2g2 circles, such as ask h2g2, we won't be using it for Duck, Duck, Goose!

Nice announcement Jodan.
Thanks.
And welcome to everyone who reads this. Jodan was a big help. It wouldn't be there without him.

What an excellent place! Already being well used, I see. As soon as I get a spare moment, I will link it on my space. I'm sure I will be there often, even if I don't post.

I must say it's nice and peaceful there, (It must be if I'm one of the most opinionated people on there)
There is an area that could be added if you all so desired, the computer room to discuss Technology (advances, impact on society etc)
Just ignore me if you wish
(I know Jodan tries )

What do you think, Jodan? Could we find room for a computer lab? You guys would have to supervise it. I barely know enough about computers to log on.

Wasn't there a whole bit on one of the intros about not having a computer lab?
Aha! The Library says that it doesn't have computers, but the Rec Room does. Would that be a good place to discuss technology?
I have no problem with putting in a new room - I can handle it. Whattaya think, H?

Hypatia Posted Feb 7, 2004
I'll have to think about it.
Would a hippie commune have an entire computer lab? We have a few already in the rec room, but I suppose if someone had a serious project the rec room could be distracting.

We could just add a bit to the intro of the Rec Room saying that you can speak about technology things.
By the way, Taralome- I'm glad you're enjoying it It's a great idea and I predict big things for it.

There's plenty of room for a computer lab. KJ, how many workstations were you thinking of? And are you willing to install them and keep them updated?

It's heading off in the right direction.
Let's hope if the computer lab goes up, it will be more reliable than h2g2!

I was thinking of installing 6 workstations. All running Hamster 2.0 with the possibility of upgrading to gerbil 3.6 later in the year

Ok. Sounds good. (Actually I didn't understand anything you said, but I'll take your word for it.)
Jodan, if you and KJ will get together and work out the details, I'd appreciate it.
Hamster and Gerbil.......why do I have a bad feling about this? Probably because another ferret beard will be in the offing.
