IT WAS ONE OF THESE DAYS...
Chovinano. Posted Nov 16, 2002
Hi loup.
that its taken me so long to reply but its all this `new job` business! They`ve crammed 3 weeks training into 1 and its a lot to take in. I`ve been so tired. I`m on the phones as from Monday, so I wouldnt dial 192 for a few days if I were you.
Ah yes... James Randy!! He had a prog on the tv that I TRIED to watch but he annoyed me so I didnt bother. Another classic `sceptic` who really annoys me because shes not supposed to be, is Susan Blackmore. (or Blakemoor or whatever her name is! Whatever it is, I dont like her!) I admit to having succumbed to the `sceptic` side of my Nature on occasions but that is only because I want to be sure that what I believe, I have had proof of. That way, when I eventually confront sceptics, I know what I`m talking about!
People are entitled to their own opinions but what I DON`T like is when opinions are based on nothing. If someone has looked into the subject and studied the evidence and still doesnt believe... fair enough. BUT, if they haven`t.... Its not an opinion based on fair judgement is it?!
It is my opinion that there is nothing greater than an exploring mind and nothing lesser than a closed one.
I shall shut up about that now.
I enjoyed reading about the dowsing you did. I`ve even used it to find lost things in the house etc. It works!!
I do the Mah Jongg cards among others, but I don`t touch Tarot. I don`t get on with them for some reason.
Have you ever used an Ouija board? I still have one but I havent used it for years. There are reasons WHY I havent, but I won`t go into that. I just like to know its there.
Years ago, people used to use `dowsers` to locate underground water in order to dig wells. Its only in latter years that people have become more sceptical and its their loss.
I wish Romani the best of luck in all her searches. If she ever needs an extra person to chat too or another opinion, theres an email addy on my page that she can use.
LD, the good old days.
Well yesss..
Take care loup.

Have you seen the new digidox friendly skin in your preferences?
It seems to sort out all the getting into conversation problems

hi jane...
i think that particular group believe randi's tests to be scientific and even worse objective...
when someone is so set to prove that esp doesn't exist it makes the tests far less than scientific and objective...
i'm pretty sure that they won't give up and that we will meet them again as soon as romani's entry is edited... well from what i've read in the sceptics convos any edited entry that doesn't agree with their views will be targeted... considering that edited entries are a tamed version of the original so that there is no obvious taking sides [!!!!!!!!!!] -which i translated by "as long as it pleases the sceptics"- in the first place i can't see the need for them to come and bring down the few left points they might not agree with... unless they feel they haven't managed to influence the editing enough...
i've been lurking around their space and unfortunately from what i've read i have to refer to them as entries/books burners...
like if an edited entry didn't go through enough censorship before being accepted!!!!..
i understand now why all the edited entries on UFOs etc seem so lame and boring... they're not there for people who want to know more... they're there to "please the sceptics"...
even the use of the word is wrong... there not "sceptics" they're just little dictators really... but... err... i will have many opportunities to talk about them i'm sure...
have a good rest... first weeks at work are always the worst....
talk later...

Hi loup,
Randy - scientific and objective...
Once again, you`ve given me the best laugh of the day!
I love discussions of `scientific and objective` but I like those conversations to be based on knowledge rather than uninformed stupidity. If someone wants to argue or dispute my opinions, I would like them to know what they`re talking about!!
You know what they say about people who protest too much!!?
I would be interested in seeing these convos from the sceptics. Where are they? Maybe I could take a little pressure off Romani. Besides, it might be fun. Ignite some fires.
Romani should just keep going! Like I said, INFORMED opinions are a good thing because it gives us another side to think about.... ignorance is an abomination and is not even worth consideration.
As an aside.... Uri Geller was at our local centre recently!! Unfortunately, I was not in receipt of this knowledge until after the event! This in itself raises a strange question about something that happened to me about 7 years ago! I met a chap who was the image of Geller, claimed to have all the same abilities and looked exactly like him!! However, on closer questioning, he denied any connection!! I am STILL not convinced!
I actually sat with him at a table in a friends kitchen one night and he did telekinesis... I SAW it! Amazing.
Anyway... it wasnt HIM he said, but it was still an interesting experience.
Book Burners!! Oh yesss... those!!
Where `Freedom of Speech` is an unheard of obsurdity and an `opinion` is reason for beheading!
UFO`s! I have seen a few of those, but thats exactly what they were.... U-nidenified! I HAVE had strange dreams however but I wont go into that. `They` definitely werent the `slanty eyed greys` that people keep talking about... they were like us.
Anyway, enough of that.
Dictators! I admit to the fact that when my sons were at school, I was a bit of a tyrant!!
I went to the school and made formal complaints about their RE teachings!!
They werent `teachings`, they were doctrines!
Anyway loup, I`d better go. These `Hyde Park soup box` moments keep hitting me more than I would like.
Take care.
Jane
KOW.... don`t go into Preferences! You should know me better than that.
WHAT new skin?!
If there is a skin that looks better than alabaster and yet works as good as goo, I would be happy.
How are you anyway? Well I hope.

i moan about these "entries burners" but i would be bored if i didn't meet my yearly quota of them...
these ones gonna be my favourite ones as it seem that the one who started this group did it because he couldn't have his ways in the peer forum thread where romani submitted her entry... and where i added my two francs worth when he came back for more...
the thread for the peer forum is called "PENDULUMS"
it's on romani's and my space...
the entries burners space is A873038 some comments in the convos does show how NOT objective they are... but it's worth having a look at their leader's journal where he explained why he started his group...
the new skin is a prototype but it sure help us accessing all the conversations we want without any hassles at all...
i wait before giving more info as i have the feeling that i do that there will be simulpost with kow giving the same info... hehe...
let's see...

loup... nope! No simulpost!
All of this just goes to say that I am still in complete ignorance as to the `new skin`!
Who cares! As long as what I use actually gets me to where I want to go eventually, I don`t care!
I`m going off on a little travel venture for the moment. First port of call is A873038.... next is Pendulums. (IF I can find it!)
Hope so.
Take care.

Loup Dargent Posted Nov 17, 2002
hi jane...
strickly speaking it's a prototype skin... they released it earlier than planned as a favour to the digibox users...
the most recent conversations there are almost at the bottom by the way...
click on:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/plain
then check your preferences box... and change it if necessairy to "plain"...
and that's it you are in/on plain...
the product is not completly finished but it sure does the trick re: accessing long conversations/backlogs etc...
enjoy...

Ohhhh yes... I`ve been a-lurking.
Problem.... I`ve been to your space and now I can`t even SEE the Pendulums convo so I`ve been unable to subscribe to it! I`m useless.. I really am.
I have been able to at least read the last entries on the Celibacy convo BUT it chucked me out when I tried to read an earlier group! (Well, it didnt chuck me out... it just... stopped! I had to reboot.)
Going back to the Pendulums convo... I double-checked each one and even went to older postings. I definitely couldnt see it!!
Gaud help me tomorrow when I`m on the darn phones!!
