h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Well well. So here it is. I never thought I'd see the day, but I guess everything must come to an end.

So here it is. The end. I'm leaving hootoo for good.

I haven't posted for ages anyway so I doubt anyone cares, but I thought I should let you know anyway.

Don't really care to explain why. It just seems like a natural end by now.

Just popping in very quickly to say goodbye.
I tried commenting in your LJ account, but they seem to have some problem with my IP address or somesuch. And I refuse to get an account there, because I get distracted enough by h2g2, as it is.
*shrug* Ah well.

Anyway, it was good to know you here on h2g2. Please keep in touch on email, okay? You'll be missed.


There was actually something that I thought of posting in my journal after Ben leaves - before the whole mess with the mods started - and eventually never did. So I suppose this is as good a place as any to put it, and maybe it will end up in my journal when I get some more time to be on h2g2.

End of an Era

Long ago, some time after I just joined h2g2, I found my way to the Monty Python Society. Things on the join-up thread got pretty crazy, a bit after I joined - we were having a fruit war, and then the furniture started dancing around, and one guy got eaten by a desk and had to riverdance his way out.
After things calmed down a bit, that guy told me of a rather new society which he said I should join, because things there go insane quite regularly.
The guy was GodBen (U518809), and the society was the Masters of the Multiverse (then A2036611, now A2334007). And he was right. That place had always been fun and insane - outsane, even - and interesting, and became one of my favourite places to hang out on h2g2.
And it was where I met Dan, the man I love, so I suppose in a way I have Ben to thank for that.
And him having gone through a somewhat similar process, I recently got to know and befriend Beck (U199203) as well.

But now, Ben and Beck are joining the ranks of those that have found the change of atmosphere on h2g2 to be just too much, and are about to leave the site.
And although I understand their considerations, that doesn't change the fact that I'm gonna miss the hell out of them.
[EDIT: As I said, this was before all the mess. So he's been gone for a while now, and the above is not exactly correct. But you get the point.]
