I haven't made a diary entry for ages, so thought it was time for one.
First one for 2005. Wow, I've been hanging about hootoo for almost three years!
Christmas here was largely uneventful. I got some nice pressies Hope everyone else did. What was your favourite or oddest gift? The oddest gift I got was a DVD, 'Slapstick of another kind' a movie starring Jerry Lewis.
After Christmas I spent a few days in Colac with my relatives. The weather ranged from blustery cold rainy days to hot dry sunny days. It was nice down by the lake.
Arriving home on New Years Eve, at about 10pm (because some stupid idiot couldn't read a train time table right - okay it was me - so we missed the lunch time train and had to wait about 5 hours for the next one) I was too tired to do any New Years celebrating. Therefore, I put in some earplugs and fell fast asleep. Terribly boring thing to do, but it was a really good sleep.
While we were in Colac, my mum felt like she was getting a cold. Then yesterday it all got worse. She could hardly breath. Because it was a public holiday, there were no doctors open so my dad took her straight to the hospital. There after a really long wait they decided to admit her overnight. They took a blood test. All we know at the moment is that it's some sort of chest infection. (We knew that before she went to the hospital).
We'll see what happens. I don't think it's too serious. It's probably the breathing thing that has them worried.
If you're looking for something to read try 'Pattern Recognition' by William Gibson. I just finished it. It really drew me in. It's written in a style that's really easy to read, it's almost like thought. Won't go into too much detail about the story, I think it's best to read a story without any preconceptions. I don't even like reading blurbs unless I have too. I find that often blurbs give away too much, and sometimes they're just plain wrong. (I do like to read them after I've read the book.) Let's just say I liked 'Pattern Recognition' so much that I keep dipping back into it, even though I've finished it. I'm already thinking about reading it again.

Right, well I'm off to buy some milk.

Thanks to both of you.
Mum is still in the hospital. She has a bronchial infection. Not sure when she can come home, probably a couple of days.
Going to see her today.
Also off to do general grocery shopping. That's always fun, not.

Thanks Hypatia! Must've worked, because she's being discharged today.
She'll probably need a few more days rest, hopefully we can keep her from trying to do too much.
Unfortunately about five minutes after I posted yesterday, I got a call from my sister to say my Nan is also in hospital! She has the same sort of infection. She'll probably be in there a couple of days longer, but will be fine.
It probably wouldn't have come to a hospital visit except that Mum has a mass on her lung which complicates matters (they're not sure what it is, but it isn't cancer).
And Nan, she's 83, so this sort of thing is going to put her in the hospital regardless.
Silly old ducks!

I forgot to mention, the day we arrived in Colac, my nephew had been rushed to hospital with appendicitis. He's okay now. Still recovering though.
Key: Complain about this post
