What a storm

smiley - wowwhat a storm we had last night here in Melbourne.
The noise was incredible. (especially since I live under a tin roof!)
There was constant thunder and lightning. Not just the occasional rumble and flash, it was like the gods were having a rave party. The lightning was flashing, like a flickery florescent.
Huge chunks of ice fell out of the sky. The word 'hail' doesn't even come close.
The noise was so tremendous I had to use ear plugs just to sleep. (Thanks Miztres!)

This morning I heard on the news that there were BOATS going up the Eastern Freeway to rescue people who's cars had been submerged.
Flash flooding was everywhere.

Really amazing, and apparently there's more storms coming.
Batten down the hatches people!

That's easier said than done. My branch has just been through renovations with an extention added to incorporate a parents room. Any half decent deluge and the whole room floods, it seems the down pipe was not reconnect properly. Please save us from shoddy tradepeople!

A storm has just gone over here. It lasted a few hours and made a lot of noise, but thankfully, no chunks.

Thanks H. Thankfully only part of our library that was flooded was the underground carpark. There were a few minor leaks in the public toilets, but they were easily mopped up.

Thankfully the books are safe! As are the PCs.

We've had a bit of a thunder storm since, but nothing as severe.

Miz, let's hope Sydney manages to avoid storms like that one then!
It was the worst storm we've had in over 100 years.

I went Xmas shopping yesterday, and some of the shops in the shopping centre were closed due to flooding.

Big Storm! Mind you, it doesn't take a big storm to cause damage. I found out later that in the storm mentioned above, Panaia library's wall's began to drip and by the end, two thirds of the adult non-fiction flooring was saturated. Lucky the water ran down the walls and to the carpet and not along the shelving to the books.

They've only just got rid of the idustrial fans than helped dry the carpet.
