A break in the norm...
friendlywithteeth Started conversation Aug 15, 2002
OK, I don't usually write journal entries about what is happening in my life, because it's usually boring beyond belief! But, today I received my A-Level grades, and I'm going to my first choice
I've got a deferred entry to do human geography at Leeds. I'm still working out what I'm doing for my year out, but it includes lots of working to earn some money
I'm a happy bunny

So glad, Gnashers! Was actually starting to fret for you myself! Was talking to AstroLion yesterday and both said we must get on the site first thing today to see what the news was.
Amazing things, communities, aren't they?!
I'll let him know - he's doing more shed building for Richard. I expect he'll be by to say congrats.
Congrats!

Hi, Gnashers,
Couldn't find you anywhere else so I page-crashed! Glad to see you got what you needed - but did you get what you wanted? Although I suppose it doesn't matter!
Congrats!

Hey AL! [nice to see you on the blue side of the fence]
Please do crash! It's weird: I'm happy with what I got just a tad annoyed: I got 1.4% off an 'a' in geography . I'm taking my year out, so might include a retake in my synoptic paper in January, so you were right... in a way
Thanks for the pressie Quille! I will enjoy uni...but first am going to enjoy my year out!!
Congrats!

Well done friendlywithteeth!!! *big *
Uni is fun! So are years out! Years out are so fun that I'm having my third year out in a row
Congrats!

indeed..a year out would be nice..
those b******s! Not giving you an 'a'... aww well..you still did fabulously!
Congrats!

Don't get angry Quille But
Am looking at lots of different options for my year out: I'm looking at some extra-curricular courses: like photography or something. I've also got to interview for a youth working job: I don't whether I stand a chance, because I've only done volunteering...but hey if you don't try you never succeed
Am also looking at working with Camp America, or maybe volunteering with Tearfund for a while
Also going down the pub now that I'm 18
Congrats!
Peregrin Posted Aug 23, 2002
Tearfund are great
If you can, find something that pays so you can save for uni. The amount of dept my friends are in is very depressive
Or even better, find something that you enjoy doing so much that you decide not to bother going back to uni. That's the route I took, and it means that I don't have a degree, but I'm enjoying my life
Congrats!

Its all up in the air at the mo... and ill be continuing working my 22 hours a week at.... supermarket!
SO what are you doing now???
Congrats!
Peregrin Posted Aug 27, 2002
Me? I'm working as a webmaster. I did spend almost an entire year doing nothing though... I got to know daytime TV very well (and nighttime TV too for that matter)
Doing nothing is nice and relaxing... gets boring after a while, but I'm very inventive at thinking of more ways to do nothing
Congrats!

I sit and play on the internet
Well not all the time. I design sites like [Unsuitable link removed by Moderator] and [Unsuitable link removed by Moderator] and stuff. And maintain them, which means lots of boring statistics reports to my bosses who don't understand them in the slightest and get the wrong end of the stick and stuff... but that's management for you.
Ooh and I get a shiny business card holder Which is a small metal case for holding business cards, which came free with a Viking Direct order, but it's shiny
