its a book, with the length and breath of LOTR, yet better known and a LOT darker: it's by Mervyn Peake, and a trilogy. It's sepererated into Titus Groan, Gormenghast and can't remember the last. Gormenghast is the castle in which the Groans, the royal family live. What Ive read, tis VERY good!

Well: I saw a tv adaptation three-four years ago, and have finally got round to reading it now. Anyways, from what ive read and can remember, the royal family give birth to a child, Titus. There is also this servant in the kitchen's called Steerpike. The action revolves around his rise in the ranks, by Machiavellian means and Titus.
