Yeah but a surgeons nameplate still has 'Dr.' on it where as the dentists ones don't.
Same as opticians, they are never called Dr. and yet their training must be as complex.
Why do we separate out dental and optical from the rest? Why not ears. or toes or something?

opticians are not doctors...it is not medical
Surgeon call themself Mr. because of status differences in the 18th and 19th century.

Optician is medical. You ever see their text books? Just because all most people need is a new set of glasses or contact lenses doesn;t mean that is all they do. They are fully qulified to diagnose medical complaints and, I believe, can issue prescriptions. But they aren;t surgeons as they don;t actually operate on your eye. But they do know what is going on.

Mr in Dutch is "Meester in de Rechten" wich letterly means "Master in the Law"
