T.B. Falsename ACE: [stercus venio] I have learned from my mistakes, and feel I could repeat them exactly.

Hiya Charlie smiley - hug

Ah yes, but you see one of those thre, or maybe four, times had me running around a room in a hospital screaming 'They're trapped! They're trapped!' before kicking a doctor, who I'd become friends with, in the nadgers... or so I've been told

smiley - cheers

Oh god yes, my family doc is ok but the hospital one is a ok too, he's an Army Officer, the bloody diabetic Nurse is a cow, I've been a diabetic for over 30 years, I can cope very well, I like to live my life to the full, but can she see that nooooooooooo she wants me living on bread and water I swear it

I find the funniest nurses are the ones that talk very slowly and put a comforting hand warily on you like you're about to spring like a wild animal. Then they ask you questions slowly and say comforting things. Maybe its just something about me that seems to amplify it

I mostly meet Military Nurses and they seem to be the no nonsense type, do as you're told or else, I'd prefer that type to the patronising I'm-talking-to-idiotic-child type

Weeeelll I dunno. One night I woke up, sat bolt up right in bed, and then unceremoniously threw up. I was really shaken and needed a little bit of sympathy...but the nurse who came to change my sheet (rather understandably) was really cheesed off and rather mean to me...admittedly after that I never ever bothered her in any possible way ever again...

There is a rather nice Civvy nurse called Yvonne who always reminds me of Peggy Mitchell, she's all 'Allo Babes 'ow are ya'

Oh, that's nice!

I love when doctors / nurses are able to make you feel safe and in capable hands!

I just had a nice visit to the hospital last week (as "nice" as it is possible for a visit to a hospital to be!)
I am suffering from quite severe muscle and joint pains during winter, and have done so for many years without anyone really being able to explain why (long story), but now I'm going through a series of examinations (again) to see if they can find something new...or something at all... - Anyway: I went to this examination, and it was just so nice to meet a doctor and a fysiotherapist who both took me seriously, and aknowledged that it is painful to go through an examination like that (they have to twist and bend and stretch my body to check exactly _how_ much pain I'm in...!...) This is of course quite unpleasant, but they were just so friendly and understanding, and there was plenty of time etc...truly one of my better hospital experiences. Afterwards I went to get taken some bloodsamples, which I absolutely loathe. I get frightened and dizzy and it just feels _wrong_. But again with the luck: an incredibly understanding nurse. Some nurses have tried to calm me down by telling me that it "really isn't so bad" to get taken bloodsamples... - It doesn't help! but this guy was just like "oh well have a lie down, some people experience a fall in their bloodpressure when they get taken blood...nothing unusual about that." And he gave me juice afterwards, which helped a lot! I felt so lucky that day!
It could have been a hellish day, but turned out to be sort of ok instead. It _can_ happen, apparently smiley - winkeye

That was nice. I'm glad it was okay for you in the end. Because I always go into hospital for the same things I find, probably reef does to, that I could probably do the entire examination and blood test myself smiley - biggrin

Nurses who say it isn't really that bad are MEAN and I feel sorry for their children. Just because some people suffer in silence doesn't mean we all have to...plus the people who know these things have now admitted that suffering in silence doesn't do us any good. So there smiley - ok

No I'm not diabetic, I broke my leg in four places six months ago and it's still broken, so I have to go for tests and have various really rather painful operations. My next appointment is nicely far away currently on the 16th March and HOPEFULLY my bone will be knitting by then. If not then they have to take bone out of my hip and insert it into the broken gap bit smiley - erm
