Oh he was injured .... the fire service had to remove a section of the fence and send it to hospital with him.
I wouldn't seriously try to stop them - unless there was no other choice - it is true that a local man tried to stop car thieves from stealing his care a few weeks ago and was stabbed with a screwdriver .... by a 15 year old. The poor man didn't have a chance but I suppose he thought .... they're only a couple of kids.
With all the decommissioning over here gun crime has almost disappeared - but crime with normal household objects like knives and screwdrivers has increased .... dangerous times.

I heard about the man who was stabbed with the screwdriver. How awful. I tend to assume that the kind of person who has little enough respect for others to steal their property probably has little concern for their safety or well-being, either. Better to let them steal my car, file the necessary insurance claims, and have my insurance company replace the car, than risk my life- which can't be replaced.
I'd feel really safe if I had you working my beat, though, with your dog and your daughter!

Well, you'll never guess what .............
A policeman rang me today and I spent an hour this evening at the station giving him my statement.
Turns out that the car didn't make off as far as I thought - the just parked around the corner then the lads went into the shopping centre and robbed a shop of £600 - and shoved the 16 yo cashier about.
The driver was caught two days later ...... thanks to my giving them the registration of the car.
He's currently in the clink and they're still looking for the other bloke.
Daughter thinks we should be on a witness protection programme in case they're psychos.

You mean, they were stupid enough to keep the car after the robbery?

Yes, they had bought it under a false name and were driving it without tax or insurance ... lucky I spotted the registration number.
