h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Last night I trotted off to the My Chemical Romance concert at the King's Hall with my daughter and her school chum.

The weather was atrocious so we didn't queue but sat in the car waiting for the doors to open.

The walk from the car to the venue was enough to get us soaked to the skin and frozen.

We purchased the obligatory merchandise and took our seats in plenty of time and waited ............. and waited .............. Mindless Self Indulgence were the opening act, and to be honest I could have done without them. I wasn't familiar with any of their music and while it might have been good enough - the sound system was way too loud and I couldn't make any of it out.

At about 9.30 MCR took to the stage amid flames and fireworks.

We head-banged our way through the set until 10.45 - the girls were thrilled and the band were gorgeous. My favourites - I Don't Love You Like I Did Yesterday, Famous Last Words and Teenagers were thrilling and gave me goosebumps. When we left, the rain had stopped and we were all hoarse.... I blame that smoke machine.

I enjoyed the show, but would have turned the volume down a bit. I'm always a bit suspicious of gigs where the music is too loud, but I may just be getting old. I was surprised at the very wide age-range of the audience from little kids to grannies.

By the time we got out of the car park it was 11.10, and by the time we arrived home it was after midnight. But - we needed to wind down so we didn't hit the hay until about 2.00 this morning.

It was, overall, a great concert and very reasonably priced at about £24 a ticket.

Glad you had a great time. It's not your age, I am very sensitive to noise, too. Be it cinema or gigs. The last one I went to left me deaf for an hour after I left. I hate that.

The kid had to tell me off for shouting on the way out of the gig - I didn't think I was.

Maybe we should invent a sound dimmmer.

Yeah, and a vision dimmer as well - I did one of my spectacular trips/stumble/fall on top of the kid things on the way back from the loo in front of thousands .....


.... I think it was the band they were cheering though.

Are you sure you need a vision dimmer iof you do the stumbling-thingy without it already?

I sort of meant for the rest of the audience.

Now wouldn't that be clever? I appear on scene and just dim everybody else's view - perfect!

Yes, but it's one of those things that's easier said than done, I'd have to spend less time on here if I have to invent that one.

Maybe we should just wait and see if the someone else can invent it for us.

Well, that worked with the TV and the phone.

And with PCs and the internet.

Yes, it's a good method and it works, so why spoil it.

Here have a I may have one myself when I get the washing machine going .... we may have a long wait.

WEll, the next person entering this journal should be able to tell us whether they can see us clearly, or only blurred.

If we have enough then they will be blurred but we may not be.

As long as it works one way...
