No new smiley - dog yet. But, smiley - erm the smiley - cat is acting more like Maverick. I have found her sleeping on his old towels. She now begs at the table. She doesn't eat much of what we give her...just likes being involved in the meal. The other evening Mike was out late, and Xena started guarding the door. How smiley - weird is that?

That is WAY smiley - weird!

Has the spirit of Maverick smiley - dog possessed Xena smiley - cat? Or does she just figure that SOMEBODY has to do the dirty work around there!?!?!?

Only the Shadow knows! (bwah-ha-ha!smiley - laugh)

We've thought the smiley - blackcat was possessed for a few years...zipping around the house all fluffed out for no discernible reason, climbing the louvred doors, and then falling asleep for hours.

smiley - cat's seem to have the ability to live ON this planet without actually TOUCHING it! I swear sometimes my cat teleports!

Thinking of such things, there's a comic strip called "9 Chickweed Lane" that does strips called "Hallmarks of Felinity". If you haven't seen it, you really should check it out... the artist has cats pegged! smiley - laugh

smiley - erm If it's not TOO much of a change of subject .... smiley - winkeye

Anyone any ideas about how to tell a [talented!!] 9-year-old smiley - musicalnotesmiley - chick songbird smiley - chicksmiley - musicalnote that "Memories" (from smiley - blackcat 'Cats'smiley - blackcat - what else???) just MIGHT be a tad ambitious as a chosen piece for her first major audition??

Like the honey bee, nobody has ever told her she can't "fly" so she just goes out and does it ....

I don't want to knock her confidence, but I'd also hate to see her crushed by trying too hard .....

Oh the relief, I'm not the only one who can leave a room before a smiley - cat only to find the same smiley - cat waiting in the next room when I get there, at least Ismiley - erm assume it's the same smiley - catbut now that you mention it...smiley - yikes.

*changes subject*
Bagheera,
How out of reach is Memories? Sometimes it's important to try and fail in order to achieve something more important later. Other times it's best to do the one thing really well instead of the other, more glamourous thing half as well. Only, smiley - ermI'm not sure which one this is...

*waits to see what subject appears nextsmiley - winkeye*

Thanks,Evangeline!!

smiley - yikes Problem is, she sings it REALLY WELL!! (so in one sense it's definitely NOT "out of reach")smiley - yikes

I know as a parent I can't really make an unbiased judgement, but her class teacher and others also say she has a wonderful voice - people are still stopping me in the street to thank me (as if I had anything to do with it!) for the way she 'led' the singing (and sang a solo) for the children making their First Communion at our local church last weekend.

smiley - biggrin Perhaps I should stop worrying and let things happen naturally smiley - biggrin

Warrior Ranger,
Xenasmiley - blackcat and I are doing okay, this morning she was playing with Mike, which was a bit unusual.

Bagheera,
I can't for the life of me recall how that song goes. If she can sing it that well without straining her voice, let her sing it. Parents aren't supposed to be 100% objectivesmiley - winkeye. When is the audition?

smiley - hug and smiley - rose for smiley - angel

smiley - blackcat Hi,Evangeline - it's that man again smiley - blackcat

The lyrics from the play, set to music for Sarah Brightman by Andrew Lloyd-Webber are:-

Midnight
Not a sound from the pavement
Has the moon lost her mem'ry?
She is smiling alone
In the lamplight
The withered leaves collect at my feet
And the wind begins to moan

Mem'ry
All alone in the moonlight
I can smile at the old days
Life was beautiful then
I remember
The time I knew what happiness was
Let the mem'ry live again

Ev'ry street lamp
Seems to beat
A fatalistic warning
Someone mutters
And a street lamp gutters
And soon it will be morning

Daylight
I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of a new life
And I mustn't give in
When the dawn comes
Tonight will be a memory too
And a new life will begin

Burnt out ends of smokey days
The stale cold smell of morning
The street lamp dies
Another night is over
Another day is dawning

Touch me
It's so easy to leave me
All alone with my mem'ry
Of my days in the sun
If you touch me
You'll understand what happiness is
Look a new day has begun ...

smiley - biggrin Audition went extremely well, concert will be mid-September to support a Charity 'Bash' raising funds for a local childrens' hospital smiley - cheerup
