Having been anxious about how I'd be after my last general anaesthetic on Fri 23 Dec, I was pleasantly surprised to feel pretty good. I had a saline drip (possibly with something it it) which I didn't have before for day surgery. So managed Christmas OK, despite being bunged up with a cold & abdomen sore from coughing & sneezing.
I think I'd forgotten that I was still fatigued from the big op though & for the last few days I've been very lethargic. Post major surgery, post viral & post day surgery - what a combination!
New Year party at our neighbour's house this evening - be good to socialise a bit, even if I don't make it to midnight.
What does the New Year hold? Back to the specialist nurse & clinic - apparently no scar tissue or the like, they think my problem voiding naturally is too strong a muscle. Keeps me continent but won't let me empty when required.
Looking ahead, we're starting to plan a trip to Japan in the Spring to see our new granddaughter. If I still need catheters & night pads then, it will take up all our hand luggage allowance - wouldn't dare risk losing them en route.
Two singing concerts & some amateur dramatics on the horizon too. Should keep me pretty busy!

Best wishes to you & family too.
Managed to stay up to celebrate with our friends - even feeling pretty good this morning too!
