After a grim first couple of days, I'm doing well with my new plumbing. Still very tired & weak but so glad to be recovering. Path results all clear, so the outlook is as good as can be.
Getting back to work looks a long way off, but I'm still less than 3 weeks post surgery. The future is looking bright.

Does that include puppies on chairs? I suppose I should be glad that it's only just today I had my first daytime accident....

But it was in a good cause as I managed to produce best volume yet in my plastic jug! In theory, as capacity improves, leaks will reduce. Hospital seems very pleased with my progress.

Shame that much as I love the sun, it's just been too hot to go out walking. Must try to get up early enough to go out before the heat builds up.

Do you get awards for distance too ?

Could this be the new paralympic event ?

The commentary should be fantastic !

I'm sure the consultant said something about 5 miles a day by 6 weeks - can't see me achieving that as I more or less had to start again after 2 weeks.
Managed about half a mile this morning before succumbing to the heat. Lots of pottering about indoors, up & down stairs. Perhaps I should get my pedometer out...

I was reading about long lost olympic sports - mostly ones that Brits did well in. A 'surgical shuffle' event could go down well!

I could try a distance record with the catheter ... otherwise I have to pee into a jug. Daren't try that from any distance!

Latest update:
I seem to be a star patient in terms of progress. Almost reached optimum bladder capacity & starting to do more normal activities.
Alas, the more I do, the more I realise I can't yet do and I have to be careful not to do too much. Still, I've come a long way in a few weeks. A bit fed up with bladder training, fitting activities around that, but it is all becoming easier.

Tomorrow I go back in for 24 hours to have the stents removed. That will be a great relief as the wound is very sore. Back on antibiotics again for that - I'm sure they upset my stomach.

Still having daily anti-clotting injections. Took a full sharps bin back to the GP today & got charged a prescription charge for a new one! Apparently I am eligible for an exemption certificate - so back to the surgery to fill in a form.

Another strange anomaly - incontinence pads, as ordered via the District Nurse. NHS only allow 4 per 24 hours. I need 5 & I'm not that wet - I don't know what really incontinent people are supposed to do if they can't afford to buy the extra.

My daughter (No.1) says she has found my christmas present - its a pair of washable, waterproof trousers.

she claims this will work 2 ways - it'll keep in what leaks out and if I go swimming with my phone in my pocket again it'll look after that.
