I still find it hard to believe, and I *know* I have some problems with my reality adjustment. Sam you dont even have the decency to speak with a forked tongue, the *filth* of the devil pours out of you unchecked by even a semblance of rationality.

<<.. DEFEAT THE DEVIL and DRIVE EVIL OUT OF SOCIETY.

We must do the same!

God's will cannot be clearer on this matter. Criminals who are driven by the devil to take the life of a fellow man MUST BE EXECUTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SCRIPTURE.>> GSD

Ah Sam but what about those executed who are later found to be innocent? Where is the justice then?

All right I may have made a mistake on the police part. But murder is murder.

>We need less of your sort in this country. Go back to where you came from you atheist demon-possessed moron.

Are you showing your true racist self Sam? Also you are showing how weak your memory is too. I am British born with a long familt tree in the north. Also I am not an athiest as I have told you several times I am a pagan.

I find you an ignorant racist now. And that with being a proven liar and disrespectful to your elders.

Just to let people know I apologise for my comment about the police. I was angry at ignorant people like Sam who believe the death pelanty is a fool proof answer.

I find that one innocent person executed is one too much.

'How old are you, GN, if you don't mind me asking.'

Never you mind. If I turned out to be old, you would just ignore me as a 'relic of the past' who is going senile. If I am young, you will think I just a supid kid who doesn't know anything about the real world.

So I'll just keep my age to myself thank you.

But why do you ask?

I hope you don't mind me asking but did you read the post I wrote about 'Prayers to the Saints'. I thought it was quite interesting and just wanted to know would you thought. And I know that you ARE a Bible-believing Christian so your opinion on Scripture would be interesting.

Well, I think we'd all twigged that Sam's ambitions were well beyond his grasp, Deakie, but you sum it up so well!

As to this being a project. I had begun to wonder how, if he really was studying what he claims, where he claims, he hasn't grasped that inserting phrases in capital letters is akin to (in civil service terms) using green ink. RL correspondence like Sam's tends to include exclamation marks and lots of underlining (double or triple) and mostly elicits a polite response whilst being filed in the "nutter" section. The problem for me is that I'm not sure I'd expect an undergraduate student from a pampered background be so familiar with the style he can make it look real. smiley - biggrin

Why do Christians believe we hahe Christian laws. Our laws are based on the laws of Roman not the teachings of JC.

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

Why do so many supposed Christians today have a problem with the death penalty, a punishment ordained by God Himself when He gave the Law to Moses?

Well, the big drawback of execution is that you cannot reverse a miscarriage of justice. Personally, I find that an insuperable obstacle for reintroducing the death penalty.

Incidentally, our legal system is not based on Mosaic law. Even the first commandment "Thou shalt have no other gods before me" is actually in direct conflict with article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights http://www.hri.org/docs/UDHR48.html.

If GSD is a follower of Justin, he believes like Justin that we have no 'Human Rights'. See F91415?thread=391251

Hi Sam,

You haven't commented on my posts (13 and 14) where I asked whether a well-known verse in the New Testament didn't show Jesus was against the death penalty and pointed out where I felt you'd used 1 Cor 5 erroneously to back up your calls for the death penalty.

Do we then agree to differ on these interpretations? I suppose it's like a lot of things in Christianity in that people have to draw their own conclusions from reading the Bible and also listening to the more theologically-trained (in sermons, talks and the like).

Shame you didn't respond as I was trying to answer your original post... but never mind.

Just out of interest GSD, why do you keep getting so angry? Does not being saved make you more peaceful and happy?

Anger is a very common trait among fundamentalist literalist Christians. My personal opinion is that this anger is the expression of their frustration with themselves. At some deep level, they *know* that their beliefs are nonsense. They *know* that the myths of a small middle-eastern death-cult bear no relation to reality and are a historical oddity, and little more. And they *know*, because they've grown up in the modern world with the triumphs of science and technology everywhere they look, that their world-view is backward in the extreme.

It is at this point that cognitive dissonance sets in. On the one hand, they "know" that the earth is 6000 years old, and their existence is sustained only by an omnipotent genocidal maniac who for some reason is planning on saving them. On the other, they also *know* that this is complete and utter tripe, a fairy tale carefully crafted to make them behave themselves under dire threat of pain and torture - a sort of dark Santa Claus for adults who could not be trusted to act morally unless under threat.

They *know* both these things, but they also know that these things are mutually contradictory. This causes stress, understandably. It's not easy to *tell* a lie when you know it's a lie. *Living* a lie is much, much harder, and usually (in my experience) manifests itself in the ways we see in GSD - patronising condescension to people unlike himself, wilful ignorance, and a brittle temper prone to flare when the nature of his cognitive dissonance is pointed out to him.

It is absolutely typical of people who are experiencing cognitive dissonance that the more their situation is pointed out to them, the more they try to rationalise it to themselves. And the more extreme the contradiction, the more extreme the fantasy required to sustain it. As you've said elsewhere, it is very interesting.

Very interesting but of course, completely made-up. Did you learn that in some atheist, diploma-mill psychology school by any chance?

Getting angry is a sign that you feel strongly about something. Even Jesus got angry. And if you don't, then it could be said that you don't believe in anything which is far worse than anything which can be said about Sam.
