Cant believe i now have flu, probably picked up from our healthy hospitals, whats wrong with these places they are all full of unwell people passing bugs around
Anyroad, on a more serious note, wifes mum went into hospital on saturday, not feeling to good, she has a long history of bad lungs and other sh*t going on inside her body, and already had one failed kidney
We went to see her yesterday afternoon and talking to her, she seemed ok, got a phone call about 8:30 last night saying she was going down hill, by the time we got there (30 minutes later), she had died...
Gob smacked and lost for words, life can disappear so bloody fast that it hits you in the face like a brick...
and then just numbness, silence and a massive DO WHAT!!!!, she was ok about 4 hours ago.
The wife is utterly shattered and walking around in some sort of dream world where nothing seems real.
When death hits the unexpected, it for sure knows how to hurt

Cheers all, i have shown this thread to the wife who thanks you all
Then the even nastier side of it turns up, the relatives, wanting to know what they can take from the house like scavengers, vultures around a carcass, we have been out sorting the funeral arrangments and getting all sorts of phone calls from aunty this and uncle that and cousin who??
What they like eh, pathetic

Have you ever seen an episode of Steptoe and Son called "Oh What A Lovely Mourning" it's exactly the same as you discribed, all the reletives gathered at the funeral of the old man's brother to see what they could have from the house and see who'd get what in the will. While everyone was at the funeral the house was emptied and when the family came back nothing was left only a tray of drinks. The old man's brother had sold everything, arranged for it to be collected during the funeral and divided the proceeds between the RSPCA and the Battersea Dogs Home so the family couldn't get their hands on it.
If you can get hold of a copy, show it to the family on the day of the funeral.
Please forgive me if this offends but I'd like to do something like this at my funeral.

Oh BK, so sorry to hear about your mother in law. s s and sympathy to you all at this time
Relatives can be a pain in the butt at these times (my hubby's lot - well the money grabbing ones at least - have been arguing about my mother in law's will just recently and she aint dead yet! )It may be better to ask them to wait until your wife has recovered some semblance of normality, tell them to have some sense of decorum!
Thinking of you and your family

I lost my grandmother a few weeks ago. I was at a funeral for my best friend's dad on a Saturday and the following Sunday morning I woke up to find out that my grandmother had died. It was pretty unexpected. I ended up staying with some of my cousins at my grandfather's from the time of the funeral until yesterday evening. It's good to have supportive family around at these times.
I hope that everything ends up going smoothly and you and your family have as stress free a time as possible.

Rains - Wondering where time's going and why it's in so much of a hurry! Posted Mar 16, 2006
Oh, BK I'm for you and your family. I hope you can all pull together and get through this.
We had similar family issues when my gran died; my aunt and uncle took most of the stuff that she'd intended to split between her kids and grandkids... wish I could say there was a happy ending to it, but there wasn't and we haven't seen them or talked to them in over 10 years . That probably isn't very helpful but I hope it doesn't degenerate like that for you. Sometimes it's horrible seeing how greedy some people are .
