Apparently now I can buy a whole city too. I'll think I'll leave that just for the win bonus, mind you.

The Lewis' on a short shelf life? Well, yes they are. But in the meantime they've been going up like a
There should be a bit of dividend paid on them as well, so I'm holding in the beta account until midnight at least.
The Olympic cities addition has caused a certain amount of consternation. Particularly as the Sportdaq staff have previously said that they never list new issues just for a win bonus. Well putting these five into the mix, and telling everyone that they are only a temporary listing knocks that lie for six.
Not that I mind of course. Anything that can make the game more popular and attract new interest has got to be a good thing
Oh, and the alpha account is still buried 100% in Andrew Murray, where it's been since Monday evening.

Wednesday, 29th June - 6pm
It's been a very satisfactory week so far for the beta account.
I'm currently in 14th place on the overall leader board, with a 7-day growth rate of some 1,734.81%
I expect to start dropping back a bit from here on in. But I think I should maintain a place in the top 50 right up until I daytrade the account back down to £2m for next week's capping run.

what a rating!
I am still not sure that I understand this downtrading thing - is it to keep your %'s up? And why is this better than getting the wads of cash?

Basically, once a week, the Sportdaq engine finds everyone who has hit £2m, takes it all away to be replaced by little icons, and gives you £10,000. If you hit £2m in the middle of a week, you might only get a handful of icons. If you downtrade to just under £2m before the 'kneecapping' day, then you can earn a bomb on the next week's shares and get many more little icons.

I cannot believe that I've just bought into Sharapova shares at £18.22 each for today's win bonus. That is just so... embarrassing

I was desperately trying to control a class of kids and buy Venus Williams shares at the same time.
Head-to-head today.

So you are now sneeking off during the working day to fine tune your investment strategies. Gotcha!
BTW given that it's half past the tennis deadline: I hope you've sold up the tennis players and have now got the Horne

Well make sure you go for him. He is a definite top mover for this afternoon.

Good-oh
I wonder at what age the exceptionally talented Rugby League player, Richard Horne, got sick to death of people making willy jokes in reference to his surname?

It certainly must have been a Horne in his side.

Right it's now time to analyse the two dividend strategies that we've played this week.
Alpha account:
Held Andrew Murray for the entire two day period. The purchase price of his shares were £8.82 each, the evenual sale price was £11.06 and it paid a dividend of £8.54 per share. This gives a yield of 121%.
Beta account:
Started in Leyton Hewitt with a portfolio value of £2.50m. The first switch was to Joachim Johansson on Tuesday morning. The next switch was to Denise Lewis on Wednesday morning. At lunchtime on Wednesday I dipped out of the Lewis shares and into Tommy Johansson for the win bonus, and then back to Denise for day trading.
Denise's shares paid an unexpectedly high dividend of 47p per share on a purchase price of £1.44 each, this is impressive given that I only held them for 12 hours.
The final portfolio value was some £5.042m, and to which a further £1.255m was added this lunchtime for the Johansson Win Bonus.
The overall yield for this strategy is therefore 151%
Therefore demonstrating that this week, day-trading with win bonuses was the way to go

10 minutes later:
I've looked at some of the background stats for Denise's share price. During Wednesday when the news of her retirement was announced her valuation went up by 65.9%. Those who held her shares between the two win bonus deadlines of noon yesterday and noon today would have seen a percentage rise of a staggering 71.0%.
This kind of growth rate is somewhat unprecedented.
This kind of growth rate leaves me with a dilemma. I've not heard from Bottletop in a while, so I don't know if he is downtrading to start Saturday with £2m, or whether he is going to take a capping.
I am tempted to let this Beta account take a capping - I frankly don't fancy downtrading, the portfolio is worth £9.5m and it's only Thursday - and then relaunch on Saturday with a third account

Ignoring the rapidly-multiplying GDs (a terrifying thought if ever there was one), it occurs to me that the Olympic bid will be an interesting test of strategy. Everyone, but everyone will invest in Paris as the deadline approaches, which will make the price rocket. Buying at the right time will be a good challenge.

I only bought into the win bonus with the alpha account. I didn't bother with the beta account as that's the one that is to be downtraded.
However, if Bottletop doesn't show, I might well let that account take the capping. It's worth nearly £11m at the moment and it seems a shame to waste it all. Plus of course the win bonuses for the coming week are absolute crap, and I doubt that there will be a dividend payment worth having this week. Therefore it would be a heck of a lot of work for not necessarily much extra reward.
As for the strategy of dealing with the Olympics win bonus. It is the same as always. You buy into the city when it hits the top moving share. If it doesn't hit top mover, then you buy in during the last update before the deadline, and sell before the first update after the deadline.
