I'm vaguely getting the hang of how to play this:
- an 81.99% growth in the last week
- currently 5,404th in the overall league, with an all time high of 4,537th
- second place in the H2G2 Superstars MkII league, behind the mighty Bottletop.
The purpose of this journal is so that I can keep track of what I'm doing in my trading position, and why.
Sunday 3rd April:
I've cashed out most of my F1 shares - Alonso, Button and Michael Schumacher - I've still got some Fisichellas that will be cashed out probably tomorrow.
The proceeds of F1 clear out have gone on Souness, who I'm going to hold until Thursday when I expect to get a pretty good dividend payout. The rest are in Strachans which is a resonable holding investment.
The next target will be to sell everything but my Sounesses on Monday evening and put it into Keiron Dyers in expectation of a fat dividend payment on Thursday.

If I pay a lot of attention, I can usually keep my profits between 60-100%, but I would love to know how the hell Bottletop scores so highly.

I'd be fascinated to know that as well
This week has been the first time that I've seriously thought about what I'm doing. Hence my comments about chasing dividends for Thursday.
I also think it's worth checking out the win bonus thing as well. I've picked up something for Alonso winning the Bahrain GP. I don't know how much I'll get yet. It's paid out on Monday I believe.
Another area that I think might be worth tracking is the IPO for new shares. Currently Shane Warne is in the lead on that, and assuming he wins I'd be interested in what the market movement looks like when he's added to the list on Wednesday. My thinking being that if a lot of people are voting for a new person's inclusion in the list, then there is likely to be a decent amount of investment going towards them, and a positive market movement

OK, I'll tell...
I hold no more than a couple in my portfolio at any one time, I trade no more than two or three times a day (the fewer the better, to minimise trading costs of 1% each trade) and most of all I keep a track of the 'winners & losers' page, and buy shares in the top movers, so all my cash is in upward moving shares. I also try for the extra cash on the 'Win Bonus' too
there, that's how I play anyway,
you only had to ask...
(I think I might regert this)

I think my Fisichellas have peaked. Time to cash in and move on...

The Aloso win bonus was £2,841 which I have now invested in Kieron Dyers.
As to my other holdings of Venus Williamses and Graeme Sounesses, they are both going up in price at a faster rate than the Kierons, so I'm going to hang onto them for the next few hours.

The Venus Williamses are still on the rise, but the rate of growth has decreased. It's time to sell up an invest the whole lot in Kieron Dyers.
The Sounesses are also on the rise - currently the fastest growing share - so I will hang onto these. I may well keep thm until dividend day, as these will get a decent payout. I'll see how I feel about it later on this evening.

I've now shifted the whole of my wealth into Kieran Dyers. There it will stay until the dividends are paid on Thursday morning.

So did you get the dividends you wanted?

GreyDesk Posted Apr 7, 2005
Not half!
The dividends were around £51k. This on a share holding that had cost me only £83k.
Late last night I sold the lot, and for a £15k profit, and have invested in a couple of golfers and a not terribly good racing driver.
The racing driver has now peaked, and he's about to get sold.

poor chappie - you not thinking about the lady jocky in the grand national then - getting loads of press but not sure if that is the point! Or there are the horses with names which connect to the royal wedding - bound to be hype there too!

This is a trading market - pure capitalism red in tooth and claw. It doesn't care about an individual, it only cares about what is moving up and what is moving down.
The 'whys' are much less important on a day to day basis, and only come into play for the period of time that dividends are calculated over - midnight Monday to midnight Wednesday.
