I've just come back from a very happy demonstration along the seafront outside of the Labour Party Conference. There were four to five thousand people demonstrating in support of Brighton & Hove Albion FC getting a new football stadium at Falmer to the north east of the city.
I attracted quite a lot of attention along the route because I was one of the few not wearing Seagulls colours, I was of course wearing a Sheffield United top. A number of folk came up to me and thanked me for my support.
Now all we need is for that fat git, John Prescott, to get off his arse and make a decision as to whether the new stadium can be built at Falmer or not. He's been prevaricating for two years now, and that is long enough.

Well done GD. There are some marginal Labour Parliamentary seats in Brighton and (especially) Hove that might just convince Prescott and pals that they can't afford to alienate so many fans.

Now if only they'd come to Coventry so we could protest to Prescott about his department saying all new stadia must have 75% coming by public transport, then the strategic Rail Authority - another of his departments, saying we won't have trains stopping at the station you've offered to build because it would only be used for the stadium.
So we're all stuck on buses and jamming up the roads for miles around.

Any news on how successful your protetes were?

There's been no news yet. The club has been told that the decision will be made by the end of the month.

One of our local councillors is getting a load of fans onto the train past the Ricoh, and a load more to stand outside the stadium - and wave at each other.
This is supposed to persuade the SRA to let the station be built.
I have my doubts.

In the spirit of Fans United for the benefit of all football, I shall resist the open goal that is 'Coventry City' and 'loads of fans'

We don't HAVE to let you leave you know.
Lots in this context means 25 to fill a carriage.
and in the spirit of fans together I won't mention who is top of the Championship attendance league.

My table shows your friends and neighbours as being well clear at the top.... However I think its home and away - so if you've played at the Wythdeane or Crewe, you're dragged down.

Oh that's easy. Many of them take their mother's brother's son to the game ie themselves.
