Yes peanut it might be a can of worms, but I think in any community sometimes these things need to be done to make people think about stuff..The 'truth' is frequently not so pleasant. Not every 5 minutes to be dragged up..but occasionally.
Our community is about to go forward and it seems quite a good thing to do just now. It feels right to me..and yes may very well make me unpopular with some. I'll have to deal with that.
This time yesterday I had no idea this was going to happen. I was very stunned when I read that thread that Fluffy highlighted..and personally I am having to deal with seeing someone I felt very trusting of and deep friendship for, in a totally different light.
It scares me how affected I still feel.

In my opinion.
LW, was affected by what happened; how the community reacted, but that reaction affected one person, LW.
LW affected, badly, the entire community. It comes to a point where in one can have to take the logical, even if detrimental route, to but one indivudal, and in this case, that is what happened. It was either that, or change H2g2 entirely from what it was, what it is, to fit LWs idea of what it should be. It would be far more of a chrime to have entirely altered what this site was about, how it workes, in order to fit the view of one person, than to attempt to remove that one person from posting here. yet again, as we've seen differnetly in recent years (Visa ve moderation), the BBC were slow, and crap to react, and didn't take the situation into hand, until such a time as it'd reached a level that... well you've seen the consequences, at least some of them, for one person (LW), of this.
We could have a single, lone person arrive, with a differnt view to the rest of us (as much as we've a single collective view anyohw), and let them do what they swish; it might not be an LW type person; it might be a hack. so, to pander to their needs, we'd have to let them steal all our personal data, lock each and eery person out of the website and then resign ourselves to not ever using the site again. Its differnt to what happened to and with LW. but its basically teh same type of thing. we can't hear each and eevery voice, equally, all of the time; we can't please everyone all of the time. if the BBC had responded correctly, even within their own guidelines, it would not have been 'as messy'. but they didn't. the wider h2g2 community had to be protected, saved, prevented from dieing. and, as I said elsewhere, or earlier, I forget which, we certainly didn't know all of the details, as regards his illness early on... or for me at least, until long after he's gone. not in the slightest. we just saw a very, extremely disruptive force within the community. slowely but steadily tearing it apart...

It is the way you have gone about it Effers. Agueing there is a greater good to this in terms of it's a 'truth that needs to be told' or it's an issue that the community should confront in no way excuses or justifies the way you have gone about this.
I understand how you feel, your shock and distress and you want this to be taken into consideration but I see no consideration from you about how others are feeling about LW or how your responces are impacting on them in the here and now.

That's one of the things that is scaring me 2legs. I was aware of Lord Wolfden but I never saw him as being so destructive. It didn't register like that for me as such a disruptive force. Maybe I was away with the fairies? He seemed like a loveable idiot like you might have in a real life community. There are such people everywhere. But we have standards of how we treat such people. I simply never understood what people were making such a fuss about. It wasn't like some 'holier than thou' let's be nice to the idiot..it was just how it seemed to me. My overiding attitude to him was amusement. And I didn't feel he was doing stuff that was making me feel half as bad as what some others do who fall under the radar.
My whole sense of reality has been turned upside down by this. And also I have to deal with the shock of seeing kea in a new light. But I shouldn't keep going on about that.
I really do think I was away with the faeries then...because I very much trust your perceptions.

Peanut unless you start being more analytical with your input rather than your endless moans about me and my behaviour I shall just entirely ignore your posts. You obviously have a certain agenda. It doesn't interest me the way you continue to express it.

Peanut Posted Jul 2, 2011
Endless moans is a tad harsh I think and your lack of interest in anything that someone has to say that disagrees with your take on a situation is really very predictable.
I will however go away for a while and think of something more analytical to post

I keep having really nice fantasies about Rafa Nadal. That man is the most full on raw piece of hot intense animal one could conceive of. And tomorrow I am going to relish every moment of his awsome destructive power on the centre court at Wimbledon. He's up against my boy, Jokovich who I have a tenner on to win. Jokovich is also chocka with animal intensity and desirability.
It's going to be absolutely briliiant.

I remember.. however baguely now, (well it was a while ago). Being torn between what quite quickly on site became two camps... those 'against' LW and his posting, and those of more restraint, or who weren't quite as impacted as much by his posting, who took a ' lets just sit back' type attitude (can't quite get that on in real words...)... I didn't like teh way some people responded (but Kea wasn't in that group by a long shot), but, it was or at least seemed, at the time, clear it couldn't be allowed to go on, before the entire community here just split apart... it was all very much of the moment, and happening kinda quite fast, so its a bit tricky to quite try and rmeember stuff right now... and of course a lot of the postings and stuff dont' seem to be here anymore, so it all looks a bit one sidesd... but please don't be too hard on kea, she didn't react any more strongly, and quite a lot less than what I remember, soem of the people did... and yeh, I did think at the time some people were going way way over the top with the reaction,,, but only with a bit more high level input from the Beeb it could have been a whole hell of a lot less nastier and messier... You've bought up a very hard, bad time for the site, from long ago, and memorys ain't what they once were from all kinds of people, and the record on site certianly isn't complete...
can't we ctalk about fluffy bunnies and how loverly my William is instead?
(ye sorry for changing the subject here...)

It was me that yikesed your post so I could ask the moderaters to shut LW threads. I'm not trying to stop you from discussing this, you can link to the discussion if you must, it's just that is not the place to be doing it.

So some analysis then.
I would point to a trend where your responses over the last three or four weeks across a range of threads have become more emotional, sometimes erratic and quite aggressive or incredibly dismissive ( and this is often personally directed and unwarrented)
Your reactions can also be over conspiratorial and suspicious and you often mention that people are out 'to mess with your head' and to hurt you
Some of your posts are difficult to comprehend, I'm suggesting that this isn't because I am 'too thick to understand' your 'conceptual way of thinking', it is because they don't make sense. Some posts topple into the bizarre.
I note that you are finding the upheaval of moving and all the uncertainity difficult and stressful and you have struggled to deal with this process. Also that you are not sleeping well or eating well. You take vodka with your 'cheese' which I wouldn't ordinarily comment on but I'm just putting it in terms of the 'bigger picture'
That bigger picture is one of my own painting and I may be well of beat but nevertheless I am not too middle class nor to polite not to ask 'How well do you think you are at this time Effers?'
I don't know the answer to that one.
Whatever it is, if you are not so well at this time, should you be allowed to quite consistantly behave in a way that upsets, belittles or angers other researchers or disrupts the enjoyment of this site for bystanders and for this to go unchallanged?
My answer to that is no. So regardless of if your behaviour is down to your illness or is in fact you on a good day and it continues the way it is then I'm sorry but you are likely to be ignoring more of my 'moaning posts'
I will try to keep them a minimum and endevour to keep them shorter than this one
All the best, Peanut
