I've been told many times that I ought to start my own T-shirt line... So now I have a co-worker at the PD who says he'll have access to a t-shirt printing machine. He's also a graphic designer. So we thought that if I brought the witty shirt slogans, and he made them pretty and printed them, we might be able to make it work.
What do you think?
SoEasilyAmused t-shirts has a bit of a ring to it...

You'd have some stiff competition, but all you need to do is find a niche, and then exploit it.
There are tons of online retailers of t-shirts. I've thought about getting the odd shirt from tshirt h*ll, but if you start making shirts I'd consider going through ya .
Find a forum or community, and then make shirts relating to that community. That is your best bet at making money at t-shirts. Keep in mind that eventually you would have tos et up a e-commerce site with proper SSL pages (https://seastshirts.com as an example) and to also be able to accept credit card transactions. If you actually get that far, I might be able to point you in the right directions.
One way to sell shirts is to use cafepress and have them print the shirts. Takes quite a lot of overhead away from your operation.

Thanks, guys!
I figured ebay might be a good way to start off selling. That way, it's not just my local niche, but that niche around the world.
...Now the only problem is remembering all those clever things I thought up....

Marv's idea about finding a community and printing shirts for them is a good one. Only trouble is finding a community....hmmmm....hey! I've got it! How about printing h2g2 shirts? There's lots of scope there for cool shirts and you could probably get some of the Community Artists to donate artwork, just for the fun of seeing their art on a t-shirt. Of course, you could always pay them a small royalty too. Anyway, I'm sure there would be a market for them.

I was kind of leaning that way GL.
I wonder what copyright issues might arise however.... The blobish h2g2 symbol is likely copywrited by the beeb.

Yeah, the h2g2 graphics are protected. I do have an h2g2 t-shirt I won in a contest, back in the pre-beeb days, though. :D
I would avoid using cafepress if you actually want satisfied customers -- the transfer process they use results in images that fade drastically after washing. Cafepress is mostly useful for "event" t-shirts, that are really mostly important for one day.

Oddly enough, I have a friend who recently decided to launch a clothing line. They asked all their friends for input as to a name, with a hope that something Latin (of all things!) might be appropriate. They finally settled on *Syzygy* which I only remembered from it's huge score in Scrabble!

You know, you wouldn't necessarily have to use an h2g2 logo to make it an h2g2 shirt....I mean, think of all the things that h2g2 features that aren't copyrighted?
-Donuts
-Continuity
-Um, er....Donuts....
The list goes on and on!

Making h2g2 t-shirts could be *really* fun!
I think affy needs a shirt that quotes Zork.

Personally, I think a Zork T-shirt would be more like to have this text:
'You are in a maze of twisty passages, all alike...'

What? Both Infocom AND Activision liked promoting Zork with T-Shirts....
I just wish I had more than the one.

I just wish it was from the Infocom era instead of the Activision era.
