Did I mention that 3 weeks ago an end was put the question whether I'd committed ABH and what was going to be done about it and what that conclusion was?

Was this where you hit back? I assume it turned out OK for you, but I've got to admit I'm worrying.

Well, the CPS decided that I did have a case to answer, based on Lornas account of what happend and her injuries.
My solicitor, went from telling it was clear case of self-defence to telling me that a court would likely think that my act of self-defence was disportionate, given that I'm a man and Lorna isn't. That her previous attacks on me etc, wouldn't be deemed relivant and that the police were prepared to not take it to court and give me a caution or somesuch thing if admitted guilt in an interview...
So after spending some time persuading myself that it was best to suspend my principles and tajke the caution rather fight the thing out in court, because doing so meant putting an end to things there and then.
So in interview, I stated that "...after discussion with my solicitor I can see that under the law I did cause actual bodily harm although I had no malicious intent to do so..." or words to that effect.

Good move, I'm relieved you don't have to go to court!
(I think somebody blew his cover for real now!)

Well, hootoo wouldn't let me log in as Avernus.
It was hard to swallow my principles/pride and take the caution, but twas the best move, no messing about having my doctors say I'm not fit for trial, no stress of an uncertain outcome, etc etc... Just put an end to it.
Haven't worried about it since.

I'm glad it ended. It's sad when one feels that ones ideals are broken, but sometimes the pragmatic solution is a bit less painful. Let's forget it now!
